I currently in the process of installing a Mobile phone kit in my prado (thanks everyone for the welth of knowedge on here, write up to follow soon - Yes pics!!!lol). I climbed upside down to look in the drivers footwell to find a nice spot for the control box. There right infront of me was a comms speaker, first thought was that will save me mounting the phone speaker!!
I also noticed some extra cabe under there, so I started chasing that, and it went to a black box with GME on it. Yep it is the control box for a TX3400 UHF CB.
After some further investigation, I found that some smarty must have decided to remove it, so they removed the remote head, and cut off the cable under the dash, and removed the aerial cutting the cable at the firewall, leaving the control box and power cables in. (Power cables actually ran in the same slotted duct and grommet as the coax!!)
So Monday morning I will be on the phone to GME (luckily the company has an account with them), to see if I can get a replacement heap for it.
Luckily I hadn't had the cash as yet to buy a new TX3420, was one of the first things on my wish list.
