Qld Tyre Diameter Rule About to Change

I attended my local 4WD Clubs meeting last night whereby it was mentioned that the 50mm Tyre Diameter Rule was being looked at and tested today. If all goes well, which I hope,...... then fitting larger diameter tyres legally in Qld will fall under the same laws as other states. There was also some considerations to vehicle suspension aswell.
Hopefully in due course we'll all find out if the new changes have come into effect. Lets hope so.

Have a squiz at the DoTaRS website and follow the path to the vehicle regulations. These are nationally proposed guidelines and all of the states will fall in to line - one day.

Stewy, I hope so, it has been under discussion for more than 4 years now. Also I believe QTA may be implementing difference tyre size rules for solid axle and IFS vehicle (and I don't know why). I would suggest reading the Queensland website rather than relying on club gossips as gospels. How is Brisbane 4wd club? Still growing in membership numbers? How is Craig B, Danny P and the rest of the team?

Unfortunately its not a given yet and I would be surprised if it is anytime this year. The NCOP as others have said has been ongoing for around 5 years now, last I looked into it Qld were refusing to adopt the whole thing as were other states. Pretty much makes a mockery of a National Code Of Practice if the whole thing is not adopted. Either way until you see a notice on the DOT website dont get too excited over it, if it does come in then the next thing will be the engineers interpretation of it and we should see some interesting items being raised.

The club is still going strong, I know Danny personnally as he's an old work collegue of mine. I agree that this issue has been ongoing for some time now and I'm across the DOTARS info, which is why I was suprised when the matter was mentioned at the end of a club meeting, as all club members are made aware of changes to regulations etc before and when they come in. I thought it was quite intersting that finally Qld should be falling into line with the other states in making this uniform. Of course nothing was said that this change was for certain, but the information provided was that it was seriously being looked at again and that testing etc was being conducted at Willowbank in conjunction with QUT.
Lets just wait and see and hope that the powers at be get there act together on this matter.
