I also agree that it is a good idea but I also think that a great part of the innaugral GTG was to get to meet a number our west coast brethren and them to meet us. And from that many lasting friendships were formed.
Sure, it meant a huge commitment by all involved, but I would do it all again in an instant.
Unless another GTG is held in a central part of this country, then those people who are just names on a forum, will remain just that.
Personally, we'd be happy to go where ever it was held.

Is it possible to also add another voting option to indicate which PP GTG site you would support in 2010? This way, you could quickly see how many are likely to attend at each location, or not.

Makes for a difficult decision for us in the middle... which way to go? East or West?.... Can I talk you all into doing it in sunny SA?

I would prefer to see the anual GTG kept as a single event, to me thats what an anual GTG is.
You will never please everybody every time.

but having said that, I will be trying to attend either way.

Would have to agree, Maybe one GTG in SA could suit everyone.
Alice Springs was an absolute smash hit, being smack bang in the middle of Oz, seemed to suit everyone.
SA is still quite close for the East and West Side.
I'd still be happy with whatever is decided, east, west or both.

                    regards

That may be ok to have one in SA this year, .....but what about next year, then the year after that. We can't keep having it in the middle of the country cause we will runout of options.
Having said that, I must say I agree with Glen (Yota). I see it as a bit of a family reunion so to speak, and you wouldn't have 2 reunions for people in different locations. I have excepted the fact that I won't be able to make it to every GTG, but hopefully I'll make it in 2010 wherever it may b :?

Re: East coast & West coast PP GTG ?? Anyone keen ?

I think it's best to hold a single annual PPGTG in a different part of the country. I would love to trek across to WA for a GTG and if it's not next year then the year after or whenever.

There is nothing stopping individual states/coasts running a smaller GTG in between times and they can time it to be before/after the national GTG if they choose to organise it. I agree with the above posters that the main point of a PPGTG is for us all to travel to meet others from all over the country. Smaller GTG's can also be arranged if desired. Let's face it, you can never have too many GTGs. Let's stay with an annual national GTG and let members organise smaller GTGs as they want.

Having said that, if the vote goes to having simultaneous E/W coast GTG's, please at least have them a few days apart so that those of us that can attend both can bolt across the country and attend both!

Regards, longdog... counting days to 2010 GTG... (365 exactly today?) !!...

I don't see how a West Coast GTG would be any different to the numerous WA outings that already take place regularly.

Is it possible to ask the reasoning behind the thoughts on having two GTG'ers.

I'm assuming that the original site for the 2010 GTG was to be on the East Coast. Is there
a concern that WA PPers may not wish to travel that far, or a difficulty with locations due
to the large numbers of possible particiapants for a single GTG, or ...............

Just an enquiring mind wondering why ?

PS; And I'll second Leachy's comments. We already have many trips here in the West, so
a 'formal GTG' would be no different to our regular 3, 4, 5 day trips, etc.

Would every 2nd year for a GTG help?
This would give people time to save some coin and annual leave so they can attend the GTG where ever it may be in this great country of ours.

                              My two bobs worth.
