Re: East coast & West coast PP GTG ?? Anyone keen ?

    Hi All
While I prefer the idea of a single GTG the logisitics of it are huge. As mentioned in another post about the idea of having one in FNQ, that is something I would love to do but I would like to start planing to go to that with more than a years notice.

I think running split GTG will dilute things somewhat, unless somesort of structure is put into place were we have state(?) based GTGs one year and then a national one the next. As Steve mentioned above this will give orginaisers and participants plently of time to plan and save.

    Cheers Neil

      Matt....

Just a thought, because I'm with you (and already living in the chook house)..... maybe rather than a split GTG, This option just becomes the 'Budget GTG' held at a different time, so those with lots of spare cash..... and time, can do both if they wish.

Good point - but then it won't be an 'annual' GTG.

Agreed - and me too!!! Perhaps this is the way to go in the long term as it would provide greater planning opportunity and make it something to really special to look forward to.

I understand the rationale for the suggestion of having two events at or around the same time - and yes I am Mr and Mrs average with 2.4 kids (actually 3) and a mortgage and other bills too!

However, if you are going to split up the GTG events then it will lose some its significance and basically becomes more of a State GTG event. Personally, having experienced the inaugural PP GTG in the Red Centre, I would prefer to only have one big event (either once a year or every two years) that I can plan for. Sure it can be expensive, but you don't have to attend. And the way I look at it, the event is only the cream on the cake, the journey to and from the event along with all the people that you meet and the friendships you make, as well as the shared experiences are well worth the effort.

I am not sure where the next PP GTG is being planned for except somewhere on the East Coast. The sooner the destination is known the better. Like others, I'll make a decision as to whether or not to attend based on this. But given our last experience with the PP GTG in the Red Centre, I will do all I can to attend. And if I can do some other things in conjunction with the GTG all the better. I certainly know that my wife and children would be happy to use up their holidays to go camping, 4wd'ing and share in the experience of another GTG event. 8)

We'd also love to go to a PP GTG in WA, especially around the Kimberley! Maybe next year... please... pretty please!

I voted NO, there only can be one. I guess it would suck for the WA crew if it was on the East coast and visa versa but living in the Red Centre most of the destinations are within reach for us. Im hoping for an East coast trip for 2010, then I can slip back to Wollongong and see my freinds and family, zook.

I charge around the edges of the wheatbelt for a few days and miss all the fun! :?

Sounds like the decision is made but my 2c.

Having a more close by WA event would dramatically increase my ability to attend. This East Vs West idea would not have to be the norm, simply an option we can choose some years if we feel more people can attend by doing it. Some years we could have one event where we can meet people from other states, some years we can have state events that require less travel and allow more people to attend from that state. Getting significant time off work is difficult for me at the best of times and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Whichever way it goes, I take my hat off to those who organize the event. Keeping the maximum number of people happy is never an easy thing.

I voted yes as I would support either event but I think the spirit of the event is that it is a national get together and not a regional one.

As Mick says I'll have to toss a coin to see whetherI head east or west if we have separate events one year.

              Cheers
