Had a request from Speedcomm (Tim) for pics of HF antennas mounting for our NTES (emergency services) vehicles. Heres some examples on our fleet.

These pics show that the NT Goverment really doesnt love its tray tops. This antenna could have been mounted a numerous other ways but the guy that installed this (or the public servant) I think was a bit lazy. Its now got a ruined tray in my opinion. There goes the resale value.

This design is a very common one, but it has its draw backs. Firstly it does impact on the departure angle. The other is that its a complete pain in the butt to having to remove the pin and swivel the top in order to open the tailgate. Apart from that its very robust.

This design is by far the most simple and neat in finish. Just a bracket under the canopy, the guy who designed this needs an award. Works well, great reception and lack of moving parts make for less likley of anything breaking. This one get my vote,
Zook.
