I will have 6 jerry cans on the roof for as short a time as possible on my CSR trip this year. The question is how to best protect them from rubbing together, onto the roofrack etc. I have a few old tubes lying around- has anyone tried placing these over jerry cans OR what else have you tried that worked well and didn't weigh a ton? A bit of carpet between the jerry cans would be my suggestion.

In the past carrying 12 jerry cans in the trailer for bike racing and all we did was car car tubes into rings about 50mm wide and put 3 of them and different hiehgts on each jerry.
