Help with PradoPoint and web browsers

Normally, I'm not too bad with PCs but this one has got me stumped.

I just got a new laptop and it runs Windows 7. (I know, woe is me!). I normally have the active topics page bookmarked. This is the URL:


Then I click on login on the top right hand corner to get to the login page which has the following URL:


So I type in my username and password and check the log me on automatically checkbox.
Now, if I go back and click on my Active Topics bookmark again, I have to log in again. This does not happen with my old laptop or on other PCs. I have tried this with IE8 and Google Chrome. There must be a setting somewhere to get rid of the superfluous sequence of alphabet soup on the 2nd URL I have shown above. For some reason, the sid=......... was not there before.

Basically, I cannot remain automatically logged in even though I have checked the checkbox and have the web browser save the password for me.

Anyone?? Especially the Mods?

Not an expert either Andrew, but I thin k it will be in your security settings. Have a look at the 'cookie' settings.

By ticking the Log me in each time box, you are just allowing your PC to store a cookie...... hope this helps.

I also run Windows 7 and have the same problem. Have to log in each time.

The cookies have been enabled, i.e. accept cookies.

This problem does not happen with the Whirlpool Forums. Do you guys using Windows 7 see sid=....... when you are browsing? I have never seen it before on my other PCs.

I think the issue is with IE8 not Win7.

I run firefox and windows 7 without a problem on my laptop.

I have windows visa and ie at work and have to log in each time. IT at work controls everything so I can't change settings. :x

Just bought a new Macbookpro and the mac version of google chrome let's me back in no worries.

Can only suggest double checking there's no way cookies could be disabled.
But I'm not a mod :wink:

IE7 and XP at work is fine for me.

IE6 / IE7 / Firefox / XP / Vista / WIN 7 I have no issues with any, always keeps me logged in unless I clear the cookies & cache.

I seem to recall something similar to this happening a year or two ago but I cannot for the life of me remeber what the cure was.

IE6 / IE7 / Firefox / XP / Vista / WIN 7 I have no issues with any, always keeps me logged in unless I clear the cookies & cache.

Are you using IE8 in Win7 or some other browser?

The problem seems to have gone away tonight. Perhaps something was changed within phpBB. There are now no more sid=alphabet soup in the address bar. I did have to re-bookmark the active topics page though. So I log in, go to the active topics page (checking that I was still logged in) and then re-bookmark the page in Google Chrome. If I clicked on the old active topics bookmark, it would log me out.
