  • Ex-Miner, Electrical connections

So I have an ex-miner 150, with an 8 pin Deutsch connector on the roof, presumably for the safety light. I want to use it to power a camp light, but when I got a multimeter onto it, i found there was only one active pin, which was 12 V ignition switched. A couple of pins read 50 mV, but i am not sure if that was just real or just noise.

I want to use the existing cabling to wire it up to my second battery. Does anyone know where they typically put the switches and fuses when they deck out the mining cars?

I'd say it all depends on who does them. Some of our mechanics used to do partial wiring, other cars would rock up on site having had it done for external workshops. Most mining vehicles are hire vehicles (from Avis/ budget etc.) it really depends who did it. You'll probably have a mess of excess wiring in the vehicle that it might be worth tracking down and removing- Most of those vehicles run satellite tracking and have keyfobs to identify who's driving.
