Hi I want to install a Redarc dc to dc 1240d battery charger to our newly purchased Prado and need to know type of alternator. So can someone please advise me what type of Alternator i.e. fixed voltage, temperature compensating or variable voltage alternator? Much appreciated.

Hi, I am having trouble finding the voltage specs for the Prado alternator. What is the lowest voltage and when etc?
Does anybody know how low the voltage drops as the engine warms up? The redarc website mentions that the voltage can drop as low as 13.2V when the engine is warm. I am installing a C-Tek D250SE into the back of the car for a Lithium service battery in a portable battery box. Specs for the D250SE show: Smart Alternator cut-in as 11.8v and cut-out at 11.4v. My thoughts are, if the voltage from the alternator is always above 11.8v, then I wont have to connect the wire on the D250SE to the ignition to tell it the charger there is a smart alternator. The C-Tek will charge normally because there will always be sufficient voltage to keep it working? Would anyone be able to assist as I'm not a voltage guru?!!!
