Does anyone know if you can get European map info or new cd for use in factory fitted sat nav.

Alternatively does anyone know if the Sat Nav can be modified to accept maps for international locations.

Urgent help needed.

It shouldn't be a problem to just get the Europe DVD.
You can try http://www.toyota-mapupdates.eu/, but you might need someone in europe to buy it and send it over to you.
or maybe just get a second hand disc from ebay.

Yeah, thats what I thought.

I just can't see how a UK cd map disk would not work.

Could the Sat Nav be formated differently ?

I am just thinking of how DVD machines work with zones e.g zone 4 Australia, Zone 2 UK. If this is the case, I wonder if the Sat Nav could be chipped or converted some how.

I am also waiting for a reply from Toyota UK for their input.

Any more information greatly appreciated

Just a question, but why would you want european maps in your Australian Prado ?
Are you actually shipping your Prado to Europe. Wouldn't it be cheaper to buy a Prado over there ?

The only way to be sure it'll work, is buy a disc such as this one:

and if it doesn't work, just sell it and in theory, you're only out of pocket the shipping costs. If it doesn't work, the best option would be to spend the $400 on a generic double-din stereo with GPS.

I also don't understood why 'whereis' sells Australian maps, NZ maps and an option of paying more to include both sets of maps on one disc. How often do people drive from Australia to NZ ?

Just to answer a few questions raised:

Yes I am exporting my Prado from Australia to the UK as I have to return to the UK and didnt want to sell it in Australia for a stupid price.

Also as an 08 model, it is one of the last old design Prados and I am not that keen on the shape of the new model.

In addition, as I have owned the vehicle for more than 6 months, I dont have to pay any customs import duty when exporting to the UK.

I have been told by a few people in the UK that the Standard Toyota Factory Fitted Sat Nav will not work in the UK but, have no explanation why that might be correct or not.

I understand that the radio may need to be converted so that it recieves the radio channels in the UK but, I just dont understand why the Sat Nav would not work with a UK map disk as previously stated.
