  • Offroad Insurance

    Hi all,

I have started taking my 2021 model prado offroad.

Currently I have insured with club 4x4. Anyone has experience with them ?
Any other good insurance company covering offroad ?
    Thanks

    Regards
    Pai

It's always impossible to know what an insurance company is like until you make a claim! They are all equally efficient at taking your money.

Having said that, I have always found them quite helpful when asking specific questions. So:
    - read the policy (Zzzzzzzzz), and in particular, read the "Exclusions"
    - when unsure about insurance in your specific circumstances, ask them for clarification from an underwriter, and get them to put it in writing. I have always found this to be useful, as it both clarifies your policy coverage and gives you official written clarification where the policy was vague. Either way, if you subsequently make a claim, they won't be able to avoid you!

I used to travel a lot by motorcycle, and policies were commonly vague about what constituted "theft" from a "locked vehicle", or what defined "luggage" or "added equipment" (such as a helmet, leathers, etc).

Always keep records of who you spoke to or wrote to, when (day and time), where they were based (which office) and so on. The more you have, the less running circles if you need to claim or clarify.

    Good luck.

Hard to make claims with C4x4, Stuffed a work mate around for nearly 10 months on an easy claim. They also do large (sometimes double) premium increases in the 2nd year. Their offroad policy isnt that great anymore, nor is their recovery stuff. You need to read in depth all their T&C and Exclusions etc. Personally I would not ever use them, as I've seen how difficult they can be.
