Same 4lt V6 as our Prado.

The local Toyota sales monkey told me they sell 4 diesel Prados to every one petrol at the moment. Wonder how the FJ will fair in our market if they don't have a diesel option?

If they can sell them for $50G in Aus they should sell well. But Toyota is to greedy for that.

48-58k is the price point Toyota tell me, no word, but doubtfull at that to get any diesel engine, and it probably wont have dual fual tanks fitted, just the 90lt front.

I have a tentative order for silver auto with the local dealer, once specs are released.

With the FJ Cruiser release in OZ that means we get better options and upgrades.

I'm still waiting on an ARB side protections system,
              Reserve fuel tank,
And the D4D engine swap kit.

              Just kidding on the D4D.

if these things ever come out in diesel then i'll be lining up to get one. had a crawl through one at a motor show earlier in the year and it's just awesome.

Side protection from ARB may come, for what they are worth, I dont think we will see either of the other 2 though.

A larger aux rear tank would be better IMHO anyway, for more capacity, with 125 lt units available, would give 250 lt total with 2 jerry cans for the odd time a great big trip is on with the car, but save having all that fuel all the time.

The cost of running the petrol, over a diesel, were it available would be bugger all over the life of the car.

                    I'm with McBain on this.

For me, at least, it has never been about the cost. Its always been about the range. The diesel versions just use less juice.

yeah not entirely about cost for me, and god knows i'd love to be able to push the loud pedal down and get that v6 roaring away rather than a cloud of smoke and not much movement but the torque, range, low range crawling and sound, it's just gotta be diesel.

                        Re: FJ Cruiser for Australia

I would only consider the slow and outdated D4D which is really shown up in the 150, if it were close to the 3.0 X5 BMW for power and torue, otherwise I enjoy driving it to much.

Supercharged V6 would be much more responsive, more torque, and fuel efficiency would be more than enough with over 200lt on board to do pretty much any trip in the country.

And at $80K for a D4D 150, the FJ with supercharger and other mods comes in under the start price, which really suits me depreciation wise, for how they get modified and used 8)

                          Re: FJ Cruiser for Australia

I'm looking into to these at the moment, its a shame that it doesn't come in a Diesel, but if they did, they might start eating into the lwb prado sales, and if you really wanted a diesel there is the SWb prado which only comes in diesel. l. Should be interesting to see if toyota keeps the swb prado around, when the fj hits showroom floors.

                          Cheers

                              Re: FJ Cruiser for Australia

                              in V6 only,

and with only one 90lt fuel tank. [there are alread 121lt rear tanks available for the FJ.]

Pricing is expected to be in the 48k - $60k over the model range.

It would seem the 150 pricing moved up the scale to leave room for this in the Hilux pricing area.
