I have a 2003 Prado 3L VX with the KZTE diesel motor
It has a Perfect Power SMT6 chip and an intercooler, besides that it is standard.
The problem I have been having is that every time I start the vehicle and drive for about 2 kms the engine Management light will come on and sometimes the glow plug light and then the motor cuts/goes to stand by mode. This will happen about 5 to 8 times and then will be OK for 600 kms ( no stopping). Every time I fiddle with the chips wiring it seems to change the fault or fix it. The ECU code is 12 which states that the crank sensor is at fault, I replaced this and still the same.
I have replaced the SMT6 chip, and still the same, replaced the resistor and sputnick thingy (Little blue thing stating numbers in micro Farads used for the installation of the piggy back chip)) and still the same.
Any ideas?
