Re: dirty weekend
Good Morning
We did the 'Scenic Rim & Canbanoora Gorge' (Tour 16) a couple of weeks ago, camping overnight at Queen Mary Falls. It's a beautiful part of the world.
The only challenging section was the Condamine River Rd. Recent rains had the river levels up a bit which made a couple of the crossings pretty interesting (I'm a novice 4WD'er).
We're looking forward to doing more of the tours soon.

Re: dirty weekend
You'll have a ball. The DERM map also has a little bit of detail that helps, don't be put off by the "difficult" classification of a couple of the sections, I don't have a lift or anything and by taking it slow it was a lot of fun. (This was about 6 weeks ago before it rained in earnest)

Re: dirty weekend
I started doing most of these trips back when I had my Honda CRV.
Most of our trips on PP follow the DW trips to some extent.
The new revision of the book came out about two months ago.Cheers, Leon

Re: dirty weekend
I have the new book, and have probably done some of the treks on PP runs. Haven't had a lot of time available recently to get out and try some of the other runs.
As for the difficult sections of Mt Mee, they're only difficult in the wet (or in anything lower than a Prado).Dave

Re: dirty weekend
We have done a few. The book overstates the degree of difficulty in general but you need to bear in mind that track conditions change and be careful so you don't get caught out. I did the run down the Lions track after prolonged heavy rain and the gazetted creek crossings weren't a few mm deep. One was completely missing! Good way to get out on your own and have a look around. Year ago we used the Wherrit book and did a run up the range at Eungella going though the fire trails and logging tracks. That was pretty interesting. The tracks were very muddy and boggy so the pace notes were not much use. I think we racked up about 50% more km that we expected to through wheel spin in the mud. We had the only 4wd with mud on it the carpark though once we finished. The only clean car were the bits of the front and rear windscreens that were swept clean by the wipers!!!!My 150 build - http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread.php?27423-A-Random-approach-to-a-Bluestorm-150-GXL-D4D-automatic

Re: dirty weekend
I had a friend that wanted to come along for a trip and he had never driven offroad at all and was in a outlander so we ended up at bribe for a easy beach trip but the inland track was closed and you couldnt get up the beach till later on in the morning as it was a really big tide and you could only get about 50m from the cutting  Once the tide had dropped the beach was great to drive on unlike last weekend. and he was happy as we got to drive though the water at the second laggon.
Might try again for this weekend.ECB ally bar, IPF HID upgraded, dual battery with CTEK dc to dc inverter, 32lt Engel, Safari snorkel, GME UHF, Maxtrax, bridgstone duelers, Offroad camper Trailer
