  • Rigid Industries LED Light Bars

    G'day all,

Has anyone out there got one of these light bars?

    http://store.mitchellbros.com.au/rigid- ... led-lights

I'm considering a 20" or maybe 30" (if it will fit) on the top middle bar of a 120 Series ARB Deluxe bar and converting my Lightforce 240's to 100w HID also.

Yep they are expensive, but seem to throw out some pretty good light. Only thing is trying to secure them properly so they dont get stolen

    Cheers,

    RT

As a sparky, I can tell you, all LED lights are way overpriced! As this technology ( a very simple technology ) is now being used in nearly every form of light fitting, from commercial office lighting, industrial, domestic, and now vehicle lighting, it should have become less expensive by now. In a few years, when China starts flooding the market with better quality LED products, the competition will need to re-think their huge mark-ups. IMHO I would prefer a good pair of quality HID driving lights.

I got mine from here: http://www.snakeracing.com.au/e-series-LED-lights.html

I have two 10" and two 40" mounted to a header. The glass does not get that hot and doesn't seem to fry bugs.

They have very low current draw for their light power. They are good for the equivalent of low-beam lighting, the light seems to fall off to a shadowy light very quickly.

      HID are still better.

As they stick out like dogs nuts, I would check the legality of those on a registered vehicle. The QLD cops have been checking number of spotties and non-OME equiped HID vehicles of late.
"Ooops I just deleted the internet, lucky I was able to recover 99.7% of it out of the bin"

What kind of distance of decent light are you getting with the LED's mate?

I cant really see why the cops would have a problem with them, although they are bigger then they look.

I wasnt really interested in them until I saw this clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7OcOJk-PdWY

I have been looking overseas mate, can get a 30" bar delivered to your door for around $970Au I think it was. No customs fees as it's still below $1000.

Just some info i saw on a sheet I shouldnt have seen.. It may have been just the wholesaler, but they were located in Perth. They are possibly just the importers for the country.

Re: Rigid Industries LED Light Bars

If the quality of the LED, driver, lens and worksmanship are good, that price is not unreasonable. I've been following the LED scene for a couple years already and have seen the fast development of more brighter and efficient LEDs. For example, a single SST-90 LED (at approx $50 each, emitter only) has a High Output of 1000 lumens (6500K at high efficiency) and up to 2250 lumens (6500K at high output). Imagine having a few LEDs lined up similar to that of the rigid industries LED light bars, the output would be phenomenal. As a comparison to HID, the standard 35W HID has an output of around 3000-3500lumens.

Spoke to a bloke at ARB yesterday and he recons he has seen these light bars in action. 'Only have decent light out to about 50ft' were his words.

Looks like alot more then 50ft in those youtube clips.

Like all lights, it all depends on the quality/type of reflector and lens and obviously the output of the LEDs.
