That's the last version... Maxtrax launched a new version over in SEMA at Vegas last month.

Still, a good price if you want to save a few dollars and don't need the latest.

I'll be talking to Brad tomorrow so I'll see if he's happy for me to post some.

If you're on Facebook have a look back through Maxtrax's pages. There's some images there from the SEMA show.
        Cheers, Leon

Just how much can two pieces of plastic change and would that change warrant a price difference of $60+ assuming it sells for equal to or more than $300 retail....

Depends how you use them... and how often I guess.
They are lighter, stronger, fit together better so they can be used as a bridge (within reason) and can now be joined end to end... handling them as a shovel is now more comfortable and probably will be available in different colours.

As I mentioned earlier... I'll talk to Brad tomorrow and maybe he can or FlynDrive (Ben) can elaborate on the new versions more specifically.
            Cheers, Leon

I would like to add that the MAXTRAX are not made of plastic. They are a reinforced nylon that is one of the strongest materials made. The cost of the material going into them is the largest cost second to the manufacturing and are definitely priced accordingly. The material is UV stable and designed to last over time. The new ones will follow the same pricing structure, but like with anything new you will be hard pressed to find a good deal until the newness wares off.

The redesign is the result of several years of Ouback usage and testing along with ADF recommendations to make them better. MAXTRAX will probably continue to make improvements if any shortcomings arise, but this redesign handles a lot of them. They are lighter (about 3.5 kg ea), stronger (3 reinforcing channels as opposed to 2), can be staked to the ground (to stabilize for avoiding getting stuck in the first place), the ability to link end to end (for long stretches of mud or soft sand), and a new mounting system. The Off-Road System will also be available to put everyhting (including a 9 let. water resivoir for cleaning) in one easy to handle and mount 'pod'.

It seems the largest complaint is that they are quite dear, but after looking what goes into them and what they can get you out of makes it quite resionable.

They are cheap insurance IMO, $70,000 car, plus $30,000 in accessories and camper trailer means I do not leave home without them when heading out 4WDing. $295.00 well spent if you ask me.

I agree, which is why I bought a pair last week. I wonder what the price will be like for the new version...

I don't think that 300 bucks is expensive at all! If you were bogged on the beach even in a old 5 grand 4WD and the tide was lapping at the back wheels most people would pay 300 bucks in a heartbeat to save their vehicle, let alone in a new rig worth 10 or 20 times that.

One of my favourite sayings comes from the Honda commercial that was running a while ago "don't you like it when things just work" this applies perfectly to Maxtrax, they just work well.

If i was in Brissy i would have snapped up those Ebay ones for $240 by now, can't believe they didn't go the first day!! i already have a set, but two sets would be better

                    Cheers Andrew
