Hi I have a 2004 Prado 120 GXL Auto. I have not had it off road since passing it onto the wife. I took it up the beach recently and engaged 4WD, it seemed to be engaging fine but the indicating lights on the cluster did not change. I just had the 130,000Km service and asked Toyota to check it out, they ran diagnostics and informed me that the bulbs are fine and No errors recorded. They said they would need the car to further investigation, I am reluctant to spend a heap of money to find the cause given that 4WD mode is working as it should. I started the car on the weekend and engaged Hi and Lo range repeadly with the selector and got not the Hi -Lo indicator to light but the orange centre dif lock indicatorto flash intermitently.
I feel it may be a faulting 4WD mode sensor on the top of the transfer case, but to remove it requires dropping the gearbox. Has anyone had experience with this or a similar problem?
Regards Walt
