  • venting out the anger

To cut the story short, a certain workshop has done a 2nd batt install on my car and in the process damaged one of the body panels (they used a screw driver to open the back plastic panel) by pushing it out.

I washed the car 2 weeks prior to the install and i was sure that there was no damage done, so sure enough when I noticed it I went back. At that time I said, look it doesn't bother me a lot I only want you to pay for it if it starts to rust. However for at least a week they kept on denying it until today when one of the fellas accidently admitted to it. What pisses me right off is, why can't the workshops own up to their f@rk ups? Because of the running around they gave me I'm going to get it fixed regardless whether it rusts or not and now I won't go back to them for any further work. Have they done the right thing in the first place I'd gladly return to them for future work as everyone makes mistakes.

On a dimple of around 5mm in diameter and some cracked paint, what's the correct panel/paint procedure? Sand it down and paint the whole pannel (the one just underneath the driver's side back side window)?

I would go get two quotes from a pannel beater to fix it properly. Go back to the company that damaged your car and get them to organise the job and pay for it. The normal process is to ensure they paint the entire panel because if you don't you run the risk of the paint mismatching slightly and it stands out a mile if they only repair the damaged area versus the entire panel. When they do the entire panel, then the job looks proper.

Get the suckers to pay for it. they did the damage in the first place and you have the right to have them pay for the damage they did.

If the installer never told the owner that he accidently damaged your vehicle, the owner will deny everything, which I'm sure you would if you were in his shoes, but now that the installer has let the cat out of the bag, he has no foot to stand on, he is liable to get it fixed. I am sure he has insurance, if not, then i'm sure you could have a fall in his showroom and sue...lol
