  • This one's if you're in the Melbourne area

    Hi guys,

I've been reading lots of posts for a couple of weeks now since joining up and have gleaned a lot of info that will help us with beefing up our Prado we bought Christmas eve (First time owners - nice Chrissy pressie, huh?)

Anyway, I think I have a good idea about where I heading on the mods but in the meantime I'm keen to meet up with other PradoPoint members/Prado owners and even go on trip locally. I've searched the forum for 'upcoming trips' but haven't found a dedicated place for this or any reference to meet ups. Have I missed it somehow?

So for anyone in the area (and I'm in the SE burbs) who'd like to do a day trip out to Bunyip or somewhere like that I'd be up for it. I'm keen for some easing into 4x4ing and the opportuntity to gain some experience.

Any clubs people can suggest, or courses that they have done that are recommended I'd love to hear too. I have researched this somewhat but would like feedback if anyone has it to offer.

So, at this stage my vehicle is pretty standard but I'm working on getting suspension, tyres, bull bar and maybe snorkel and dual bat before a trip to Central and Western Australia in July.

PM or reply to this thread if you'd like to meet up for a trip in the coming weeks/months. My work does take me out on weekends sometimes but the benefit is that I may be available week days if that works too.

    Cheers,

    Dan

Welcome Dan, there's been few random VIC trips, nothing monthly etc.

If you're a family then I'd suggest the Pajero club, I am a member. You don't need a Paj and they have a variety of trips from mild to wild. You can also take their driver training courses. http://pajeroclub.com.au/

Thanks D4D, a mate that has a Pajero said the club was a fair size... so its good to get another point in that direction. I hadn't looked them up yet.

        Hi Dan,
You can also look at http://tlcv.org.au. It is also a fairly big one with lots of trips planned regularly.

        Thanks,

Yeah a club is best for advice, training and experience.
SE Melb - there's a few around there- take a look on the 4WD Victoria site.
Best to go to a couple, see if you feel comfortable with them. If they run endorsed training courses even better.
          50 - 100 members I find is a nice size.

Thanks for your replies. I've now got a better idea about where to look and what to consider. Also, I've talked to a few more people about my build up so I'm getting a better grasp on priorities. Need to pull my finger out as theres not really much time once work gets going again to make it all happen!

            Cheers,

              Hi Dman,

Another Club you could join is the Jackaroo 4WD Club of Victoria.
We are a Family friendly Club, which means we don't do Hard Core Panel Damaging Trips.
Meetings are held every third Wednesday of the month, except December. Meetings start at 7:30 pm at the North Balwyn RSL & Bowls Club, Centre Way, North Balwyn.

Like many clubs, you don't need a Jackaroo.
We have several Prados in our Group.

We have members from Riddells Creek, Mt Macedon etc attend.

              PM me for futher info.

Thanks Stuart... probably a bit far for me to travel with other clubs that bit closer. I'm going to check out the Pajero Club at their meeting next week.
