DVD changer

Mav,

I have been looking for one of these with the Sanyo Protocol. What brand is it. Do you have the link to the ebay seller, maybe they have more?

It was a one off from the seller, it was given to him but he had no use for it. It just happened to be the one I was trying to get from China but was not having any luck getting the manufacturer to respond to my emails.

I have no idea how this guy got this one other than he said it was given to him.

The brand on the unit is American Boss but the part number is DVC-1008.
If you do a search on the net with this part number you will see it is the unit out of China and it uses the Sanyo protocol.

I must say that with the older Route 66 version the Roadrover has been performing extremely well and so far I have not seen any differences in the mapping to the new version. Absolutely no lockups at all.

My clock has gone off a few times though

Even with the new map from Navteq I have found that it is not as comprehensive as the Sensis mapping that the TomTom uses. The Navteq map does not have roundabouts that have been here for 10 years in my area. I ran them both on the way up to Brisbane last week and the Sensis mapping shite all over the Navteq mapping for minor roads.

Yes the Roadrover has all the required connection points for cameras and changers.

I sent Maria from Roadrover an email with regards to them supplying a DVD changer when they send me over the head unit. They stated that they can supply a 10 stack DVD changer to suit for US$285 which is around $320 aussie at the moment. I have sent her a request to supply me with brand and specs and I will post details when I get them.

DVD stacker

Something I forgot. Do the latest Prados have a spot inside the glovebox to mount the stacker? I think I recall seeing a stacker fitted into an area in the glovebox of a 2004 model specifically designed for a stacker.

Yes there is a slot there but I think it would be too small for a 10 stacker, I could be wrong on that as I have not measured it up. But I think I will mount the one I have coming under the passengers seat.

With regards to the American Boss DVC1008 DVD stacker. How will this connect to the Roadrover unit? Is there a specific cable that is supplied with the stacker to plug into the Roadrover?

Yes there is a CDC cable input that has a pigtail cable connected to it.
