I had a recent issue when I installed OziCE on a newly purchased car in dash DVD/GPS unit. Whenever in OziCE, and after the GPS function started, I would receive a Program Exception error which locked up the unit completely. Without the GPS on, I could load and browse maps OK. Tried reverted down to many earlier versions but the issue followed.
I spoke with Des from Ozi, as well as the seller of the unit, but neither was aware of the issue.
After a lot of trial and error, I found that when dimming the screen with the ‘light bulb’ button on the interface prior to switching the GPS function on within OZICE, no errors at all. Great! Only problem now was with the screen dimmed at 50%, I couldn’t read the screen enough for it to be useful!
OZI have a little application called screen designer, and it allows you to customise views and layouts, so using this program, I cloned the interface and added a little box in the bottom right that dims the screen by 10%. Copied across the new file to my SD card, ran the unit and it works a treat!Just have to remember to press it before starting the GPS function in Ozi.
Certainly not a fix, but a good workaround if anyone’s in the same boat. If anyone needs the updated file, PM me and I’ll forward it on.
The specs of the unit is 600Mhz processor,256Mb ram, WINCe6, 800x480 resolution.
The internal GPS specs of the unit: Samsung S3C2440A-40 processor, 533Mhz running iGO8 and now OziCe. It feels much faster than the SirfIV (or was it SirfIII) processor I had in the car last, seems to acquire lock much faster and looks slightly more accurate from before.
