Well, the joy of the new iGO8.3 maps didn't last long. Went on a drive tonight and it is clear the unit doesn't have the processing power to keep up the screen updates and the poor girl giving me the the navigation instruction picked up a massive stutter. It was fine for the first 5 instructions or so but then start to loose it and getting worse the further we went. Ather about 1o minutes she couldn't get a word out. I'll do some more tests tomorrow, and try to fine tune it to be economical on the processor and available memory. On the way back I ran OziExplorer and it works very well with the 25K topo maps on the 8GB card.

      Interesting..

I am running R17 (100211)and the latest IGO8 Build: 8.3.4.142975 on the old unit and full TTS etc and never misses a beat...

Auto runs in the background, TTS a good few POI and all teh usual red light etc etc etc.

Just make sure that the system has not been set to flag and highlight ever POI there is. Had one build that was shared around and they had sett every POI to flax and warn at teh MAX distance... So many people got caught and dumped a good version - due to user settings.

Still love my TomTom but to date have been unable to get it working on this unit... AND I would have to drop TTS. So I guess IGO is teh winner at this stage.

Re the reverse camera wiring, mine was already there as per the pictures on page 3 and 4 of this thread.
Great tip on removing some of the plastic round the ipod cable where it plugs into the back of the unit to get it all to fit nicely in.

One question I do have, where did people bring out the other end of the Ipod cable? Trying to think of a place where an iphone or ipod will sit nicely, was thinking maybe into the slot in the top of the glove box but I would need to drill or cut a hole in the side of it.

        Beno
I put mine in the glove box. I dont have an Ipod, but SHE does. It works well in there, power and connect lead are small and just close the glove box on them. Easy!

We have looked at a number of units available and are developing these to make them suitable as they seem to all be a long way off. I would hope that within 2 months we will have a suitable option to offer. Issues that are faced with 150 units we have looked at thus far are compatibility issues with the rear speakers, integration with the usb audio, bluetooth on the steering wheel and diversity antenna. So we are working through these issues now and hopefully will have a solution shortly. Don't hesitate to contact us.
          Kind regards,

          Matt,

Do you have any idea about whether the existing unit or proposed new premium unit is compatible with the 150 series GX model? I ask this because the GX does not have the steering wheel mounted stereo and bluetooth controls and does not have the diversity antenna that the GXL and above models have. I have convinced the wife to go for the GX over the GXL because the GX has more luggage room in the back, but part of my argument was that I would fit an aftermarket GPS with rearview camera because this is the main extra feature she liked on the GXL.

          Thanks

The normal way people activate the rear camera is by linking into the positive into the reversing lights as well as to ground or the negative return. Get you kids to sit in the car and touch on the brake perdal on and off while you use a test lamp. Works the same for wired and wireless cameras..

Could be a lot of things. Check the SD card is in properly. Try a different application as the software might be courpted when copied onto the card. Try a different card, etc...

tried a few things with the gps nothing worked, emailed matt.

on the av cable for the camera, there is a red wire about 4 inches long sticking out the back of the plug, on both ends, no where could i find in the instructions if this needs to be wired to anything. i also assume i have to wire the car back site brown(from the back of the head unit) wire to something?

Have you tried copying some other WinCE application and changing the navigation path just and then trying to start this? That will at least prove that the Micro SD Card is working ok and that the nav path setting is fine.

had to go to Options (by pushing the arrow at the bottom of the main menu), then press nav path. Open the folder by double clicking, then click on the .exe file. push the Home button. don't think it was anyone's fault

                              these things are pretty cool!
