I've got mine adjusted so that I can 'just' see the tow ball/trailer hitch when its in. I didn't want to have it pointing too low and miss out on the advantage of reasonable good rear view distance.
While the camera bracket can be bent and twisted a bit to help get it adjusted as required, I'd recommend doing a bit of a test fit using double sided tape or just one bolt first to ensure you can get it the way you want it. Note that depending on the tyre size/type of your spare, you may not be able see the actual bumper.

            1. Front camera on
            0. Rear camera auto
            2. Rear camera on

            Wiring as follows:

Use a two into one RCA joiner (eg stereo audio -> mono) on the camera connection to combine the video feeds
            +12v source to a 2 position switch (e.g. http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView...T&SUBCATID=401)
wire from position 1 to the 12v input on the front camera (e.g the piggyback wire - potentially need thicker gauge) and through a diode to the brown wire
wire from position 2 to the 12v input on the rear camera (e.g. the piggyback wire - ...) and through a diode to the brown wire
wire from reversing lights (or the kick panel) through a diode connecting to the wire from position 2 before the diode

The logic is, with the switch in position 1 the current flows from the 12v source through the front cam and to the brown wire. In position 2 it does the same but with the rear cam. The third diode stops the rear lights from coming on. With the switch in the centre, if the reverse lights are activated, the rear camera will come on

            Wiring Diagram:

Apologies for the hand drawn diagram and amateur electronics (read made up symbols), if anyone can improve I'd love to hear your feedback.

-edit- needs an earth on the rear camera too ops: -Diagram for illustrative purposes only

            Cheers

            Ed

            Lionel,

Thanks for the good idea (and wiring diagram), I have run with it and come up with an override so that I can activate the Reverse Camera on demand.

(To All - yes this is a handy feature but not safe to be travelling fwd and looking at the world wizzing past in reverse...)

I used the following switch from Jaycar as its very similiar in size to the carlingford rockers but much cheaper:
            http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView...T&SUBCATID=401

At this stage I'm still considering where to mount a front camera before I proceed. Not a huge fan of the front badge location of the 150's Kakadu - thinking about mounting on the underside and perhaps on the crossmemember below the gearbox/transfer case - that way when looking forward I'll see both front wheels for wheel placement and also clearance of the front end over obstacles.

            Anyone got other ideas?

            Cheers

Hi Randy, this sounds like a faulty monitor. You have thrown me that you can hear radio at times, or is it all the time? We do offer a 12 month warranty so unfortunately will need it back to look at. Please email or PM me and we'll get it resolved asap.

I'm interested in getting a new GPS/Radio/DVD/Rear camera unit and have just checked the eBay site but there seem to be dozens of different ones that fit the Prado. Which is the one that everyone is talking about; the TP09X1 model and I see that Matt from DigOptions says there is a Premium model. Which is which and which is the Premium model???
Everyone seems to be satisfied with this model, I don't want to buy the wrong one.
Also does anyone in North Brisbane install these things as I have no idea what some of you are talking about when you are doing your own installations. That's not within my capabilities.

As bdearth has said, the install is pretty straight forward, I would almost say that the camera and wiring took me longer than the head unit which almost falls into place. I am also on Brisbane Northside.

                          Hi Matt,
I have installed the firmware update from the link you emailed me. I guess we will have to wait and see how things go but the GPS appears to be working fine at present.

How do I go about updaing the IGO8 maps that come pre loaded. The maps do seem to be dated and would like to install the latest available. Is this something that can be purchased through yourself or does any one else have info on this topic?

I have just finished the install of the new AVN11TP (Upgrade TP09X1) What a great unit, Seamless fit to the dash of the 150GX and easy to install. The rear camera was a challenge but well worth the effort.
I recomend this one to anybody looking to upgrade.

                              Cheers

P.S. I had written a long winded glowing report of the unit and install but when I went to submit, the system asked me to log in again and I lost it all. Poo to that!

Edit: Delete "Premium" Insert "Upgrade"......Still love it no matter what you call it.

Had my unit installed today and everything seems to work. The software for the GPS unit is dated 29 November 2009 so I'm presuming that there is an update since then so I have sent off an email to Matt. The reversing camera is good too and we adjusted it so that I can see the towball for connecting the camper trailer but still get a good view outback as well. My phone works with Bluetooth with the unit too but there already was a Bluetooth unit under the dash that was installed by the last owner, I guess.
So if anyone needs a good installer in Brisbane; I have the number of a good auto-electrician who was suggested by Matt.
