My command line reads as follows:

    Command = \SDMMC\iGO8\iGO8\iGO8.exe

Make sure your pathyway includes all the folders/sub folders. (ie; your command line must read the exact pathway to the exe. file you want to open)

      Hi All,

Does anybody know if its possible to run different MP3 player software on these units?

I've found things like Media Player for WindowsCE but dont know how I would install it, is it do-able?

      Long-winded reason...
Problem is this, I spent ages converting all my CDs to MP3 then burned them to a few DVDs. But the units MP3 player menu is pretty cruddy in that you cant have Artist/Album/Tracks it will only show Album/Tracks. So its sorted by Album name (random) and cant see the artist. So I went through and changed ALL the album folders to show the Artist also, so its Artist-Album/Tracks but now the titles are so long you can only see the Artist bit anyway.

Any help would be appreciated, even if it's "No, give up trying"

      cheers,
      Paul

I found a number of differnt MP3 players that just run as exe's that I have tried on my 4.3" unit. I've run these either direct from Total Commander or through SystemInformation. i can have a look at thrse tonight and let you know what i've got. Think I've got your email so can send you what i've got if you are interested. They are all freeware ones.

          Hi Guys
I'm on the verge of ordering one of these units, looks like a great bit of gear! I have read about the wiring for the reversing camera, but does anyone know whether a November 2007 GXL will have the pre existing wiring for the camera?

When I do order I am deciding whether I have the guts to attempt the install myself or not, the last car I pulled the console out of was my 1979 Celica to install a stereo and graphic equaliser. I'm now a bit older and wiser and aware of if I stuff up it could cost me more than someone who knows what they are doing in the first place.

I habve emailed Matt a couple of times and he seems like a pretty genuine sort of character, so I will be happy to give the business. Price wise it certainly has it all over the Pioneer and Kenwood units I have looked at.
          Cheers

Hi all, I have just purchased a couple of headrest dvd players for the prado and have had them apulstered to match the car. It is now time to wire them up and I am planning on linking it in with the head unit so all 3 screens can view the same thing if wanted. I was wondering, has anyone done this and is it possible to have the gps map sent through to the back? It would be good for the kids to be able to see how far it is to go to the desination

              Hey guys,
Great to see people still getting a lot out of this thread.
I was hoping I might be able to pick your brains. We are reviewing the range and would like to see the importance that people place on the unit having a remote control. If you don't have steering wheel controls, is this a critical factor? How about if you do have steering wheel controls? What features (as crazy as they seem) would you like to see added to the system and what features could we do without.
Please feel free to add to this thread or PM me.
              Kind regards,

                Hi Matt,

In my case the remote is a must have! Main reason being for the mp3 player controls. With the remote I can scroll through the albums/songs while driving without having to fiddle with the touch screen. As its in an older hilux it is installed lower in the dash and playing with the touch screen while driving is risky. Can also scroll quicker with the remote as the buttons are more responsive.
Note: I dont have steering wheel controls, but dont know if these would work in the mp3 menu.

If there was one thing I would change it would be the mp3 player, whether playing from a DVD/CD or USB stick it only "sees" one tier of folders. ie. Artist/mp3s ..you cant have Artist/Album/mp3s.
                cheers,
                Paul

1: The ability to lock in the stations.. Hate having to do a reset or spend a few hrs out of town and then have to come back and search and set up my standard stations all over again.

2: An ability to upgrade the Application / System Va the USB or SD card slott. I.e. Boot and reflash from the SD.

3: Current steering wheel controls are fine for me

4: Address book / quick dial feature with the BT

                    g'day Matt,
As I use an Iphone with the bluetooth, I never use the remote of the unit. We have used it once in the time it has been in, and that was so the kids could change songs when we had their ipods hooked up.
The bigges thing for me would be the abilty to run tomtom on the unit. I have put some effort into this and have had no luck finding a program to instal.
I have not tried this yet, the current unit may do this but it would be good to be able to relay the map/gps screen to remote screens (headrest monitors) so the kids can see it. As I said, not sure if the current on can do this as I haven't tried and very much a wishlist item this one.

                      Hey guys,
Hoping to pick your brains. I purchased NatMaps 2008 and looking to include as an option with the TP09X1. Question, there are 2 DVD's included. Do I need both?
Also, on the Natmaps 2008 there are 4 kinds of maps (DVD 1 and DVD 2 include the same folders, I'm guessing different maps. Kinds are:
                      1M Mosaic
                      250k-Maps
                      250k-Mosaic
                      Satellite Mosaic

Do you think I should preload all of these onto Sd card or would some be preferred over others you think? Space is the biggest issue as all will be over 9GB.

Also, what is the best way to set these up in Ozi? As DVD 1 and DVD 2? Or should I merge the 2?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

                      Cheers,

Matt, I do not have the NatMaps but the same data can be downloaded for free from Geoscience Australia website (http://www.ga.gov.au).

IMO the 1M mosaic is useful for high level planning but is useless in real 4wd siuations. Might as well just have igo running if 1M resolution is suitable.

The 1:250k mpas are tiles and there should be about 530ish to cover the whole of Australia including Tasmaina, Fraser Island, Bathurst Island and a few others. The 1:250 Mosaic is the same as the map files but joined together. Ozi will load eash map tile indervidually but only show 1 so if using map files then as you approach the edges then you are presnted with white. Not sure on the size of the mosaics but Ozi will operate best with these if they are in the ozi format and I'm not sure if the files are supplied as ecw files OR ozfx2 or ozfx3 files. Best to test if the in dash unit can display the mosaic and the update speed of it in use. If the moasic is in ECW format then the whole file is loaded into memory until it runs out of memory then the refreshing of the screen is slow.

The Satellite Mosaics will presumably be at 1:250k. My preference is to use topographic mpas over sat as there is more detail on a topo map that satellite.

You do not need all of the above maps loaded and best to setup based on what maps you will be taking with you. If you are trying to set this up as a package then I would check if the 1:250k mosaics work sucessfully and just supply these preloaded along with the 1M planning maps.

                          Hi Matt,
                          i have the 2006 topoview maps in 1:50000, 1:100000, 1:25000.
they are the exac image of the topographic maps.
the size is very big, they will not fit in a 8gb card...
they come in ecw format which both ozipc and ozice
will read. If they are converted to the ozfx2 format (which i have done)
then the size is 7gb...so what i do is only use the maps that i need
of whereever i go.....for touring the 250k maps are good enough....

How to install OziExplorer...with existing POlNAV software ?

I've got 90 series 2002 Vx with a newly installed Dig_options GPS unit.

The GPS software that came with the unit was POLNAV.

I've added OziExlporerCE (demo) to the SD card.

The problem is that when selecting 'Navi" off the main menu there is no option to select the preferred GPS software - Polnav comes up automatically with no options to select Ozi Explorer.

Any clues on what I need to do
                            - Is there a change I need to make to one of the .ini files?
                            - Can't see any options within the setup memus - have looked throught these carefully - is it possible there is something hidden away?
Any advice about what to do to get OziExplorer up and running would be greatly be appreciated!

                              Two options here.

                              1. You change the navi path each time you want to change applications, OR

                              2. Contact Matt who has a menu you setup as the Navi path and this allows you to load multiple navigation tools. You may need to configure this to suit your own paths and applications (since you mention polnav) as this is setup for igo and ozi. Not hard as there is an ini file for this. THis has been discussed over the last several pages in this thread
