Sorry about that Matt, the resolution didn't seem to work out when loaded, so I just started again building it up from scratch in photoshop playing around with a few ideas.

Apparently fitted out with a BRA bar, and a KCAR ONIHR, with a pair of FPI spotties too!

            Hi Matt

You must not be getting my emails.

Is the ford unit ok to install? Im not going to solder the gps thread. would a drop of glue ensure it doesn't move again?

Have you tracked the unit for my prado it still has not arrived,

              Hi Everyone

Just installed the new unit "avn something" in my 2006 GXL this weekend, with reversing camera. All went well except for 2 things that people can probably help me with please:

              1. The reversing camera is wired into the reversing light just below the right hand rear light setup. All works well, camera comes on when reverse is engaged, etc., except for one thing. When the camera is on, it drops out when the brake is pressed. It's like it loses power. Has anyone come across that before? It's like there was a short in the system or voltage drop or something weird

              2. Second item is that I now can't get AM radio. There was a second antenna connection behind the original unit, a much smaller one, but I can't see where that would have been connected anyway even if it was supposed to be. I don't think it was on the original unit. Can anyone help me see what I might have done wrong there?

Anybody that can help would be greatly appreciated.

              Thanks
              Darren

Have you wired the camera cables to the correct reverse wire? Not the brake light or stop light by mistake?

Hi Darren, as mentioned in the previous post there must be an install problem re the camera and brake light. Also please refer to the starter guide. About the second issue, from my experience most people dont have issues with the radio reception however those that do can often solve the problem.

Has anyone fitted the new AVN11TP navigation unit yet? Am looking for what the thoughts are on it. Also does the unit allow IPODS to be charged while driving and listening to them? Also can you play movies on the unit from the IPOD. Whats the screen quality and GPS like. Thanks jeff

                      Hi Matt

I live in middle of Brisbane/Ipswich and can't pick up a fraction of an am station but can get perfect fm reception. I don't think I need a booster to improve reception. If there is no separate am antenna input there can only be something wrong with the unit. Or it's not as straight forward as putting the unit on am radio for some reason? What's the problem others have had with am reception that they've managed to resolve? Same thing or something else?

                      Darren

                      Thanks

                        hey Darren,
have just put one of the avn units into our 90 series prado (although yet to do the reversing camera) and I found the radio reception to be better than the old toyota. As others have mentioned check your wiring with a multimeter for the reverse cam as the cam should only operate when youre in reverse...but you already know that! If the wiring is all good then there was a mention of the screen going blank in the install guide and you might need a diode in there as well???

As for the radio reception I think I read somewhere that the 120 series have a powered antenna...
this post http://www.pradopoint.com/viewtopic....tenna&start=20 might help but it wasnt the one I was thinking of..

maybe a bit more of a search might reveal some more info on this or others with a 120 can shed some light on it....good luck

The 120s have the FM aerial built into the rear quarter windows. The reception is from mediocre to ordinary. Some have fitted an external aerial and typically use something like an old AM CB aerial.

Would it have anything to do with the fact the radio area in settings is set to Europe at all? Can't change it if it is for some reason

Anyone know the answer to this?
If you're running a netbook in vehicle with mapping software that doesn't live on Win CE, can you plug the PC into this unit and basically use it as a remote screen for viewing, rather than actually running the software?
