Like quite a few other Pradopointers, I purchased a Navlink GPS some time ago. Its proven to be a cheap alternative to some of the more expensive GPS's available.
From day one the mount worried me, it seemed flimsy and I had difficulty getting the thing to stick to the windscreen. My Navlink has the power cable attachment on the underside (I notice some of the earlier ones had the attachment on the sides) so secure placement was always going to be difficult as I couldnt rest it directly on the dashboard.
Anyway, I ended up sticking mine on the right hand side of the instrument panel and was able to set it up so the left corner of the unit was supported by the dash. This saved the thing bouncing around too much when off road and less bounce meant it stayed attached to the windscreen longer.
Unfortunately the other day it fell off and to my dismay the suction cap had broken off from the bracket and looked doubtful if it could be repaired. To many rough roads

Broken bracket
I ended up ordering a Ram universal replacement. The unit is made of hardened plastic and aluminium and is a 1000% better than the original. It comes with a backing plate with pins that can be placed in several positions and adjusted to fit your GPS and a spring loaded clip that holds the GPS firmly on the plate.
The suction attachment to the windscreen is also much better than the original and holds the whole thing in place as solid as a rock. I havent tried it off road yet, but have no doubts that it will perform. The whole thing has a quality feel about it.

Backing plate showing spring loaded clip to the right and locating pins. I have the pins in the second slot on the right hand side due to the position of the power cable and sleep button.

GPS in position
The best part was the price, $61 delivered to my door by Johnny Appleseed (so its still a cheap option). I ordered it in the afternoon and it was delivered just before midday the next day (to Perth).
