Got an Acer iconia A500 today. once charged and running will load ozi beta and see how it goes. We have Memory map on the laptop and sister-inlaws iPad which is really nice to use. MM say android ap is on the way, but o joy yet. Waiting for that so I can access the 1:25k maps of vic.

Hi guys,

How is the Beta version running?? I also have an Acer Iconia 500 tablet and after reading this post, thinking that it will make a great GPS. I currently use MotionX GPS on my iPhone atm but would love to use the bigger screen. I live in NSW and was wondering if 25k maps are available for this version. I am also going to Fraser Island in 4 weeks and would prefer to have a decent GPS as well. I also have a Navman My75T GPS.

QbnPrado I found Androzic in the android market and loaded that. Works great on Ozi maps. There is a link here in GPS chat I think or do a search for the maps loaded for public down load 1:50k maps of Vic and NSW.

PS: how do you find the GPS in the A500? mine works but is very weak. I have a Bluetooth gps of fleabay that I use instead of the internal GPS and works really well.

I have found that the internal GPS on the A500 is crap, barely ever picks up a signal. Gkad that i am not the only one experiencing this. I am new to using Ozi maps and such. I will look for Androzic and see what it is like. I will be on Fraser island in 4 weeks time so hoping that the A500 will do its job, but i will take along my Navman My75T just to me safe.

My A500 got a system update to 3.2 yesterday and that looks to have improved things a little.

I have the A501 and was using Copilot for street navigation. It can lock on to the satellites fairly well, even in our bedroom. However, when driving, it drops out, then comes back, then drops out, and just repeats over and over.

Put it on the dash and the tablet can be moved about the cabin without worrying about loosing signal.

I also bought this case for the A501 http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/200625330...84.m1439.l2649 and I will try the shock cord idea between the 2 vents on the centre console. The case folds back and I can hook the case to the shock cord. If I need to use the OEM satnav for the reversing camera display, I can just flip the A501 up.

We just returned from the Grampians but unfortunately, the bluetooth GPS from ebay did not arrive in time. So I made do with the internal GPS from the A501 and Androzic. The maps I used were from maps.festy.org and they were fantastic - i.e. very accurate. The internal GPS was intermittent as expected but still got the job done. The tracks from the internal GPS formed dashed lines.

The bluetooth GPS arrived while we were away and tested it out today. I couldn't work out how to get the bluetooth GPS to function as a GPS. Google had the answer, of course, and I downloaded Bluetooth GPS app by Googoo Android

My short testing now shows a nice smooth track of where I have driven. Now I just need to decide where to mount the bluetooth GPS with permanent power, somewhere out of sight and still can receive the GPS signals.

Androzic works so well (for a free app), I don't think I will bother with Ozi. Now I just need to get the entire map collection in ozf2 format.

Received a Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 a few days ago.

Have Ozi up and running.

I had previously purchased a license for my phone and so emailed Des requesting a swap to the Tab. No problem a new unlock code for the Tab came the next day. Great service.

The high res screen looks great and I am looking forward to trying on a trip. Need to get a mount yet.

Been using Ozi on an Android phone and tablet and extremely happy with performance and new funtionality in the current version.
