Been a long time lurker here but I think I've finally done enough to our playdoh to warrant a build thread.
Many thanks to all on here for the mountains of usefull information, hopefully some of you may find some inspiration from some of my mods.

2003 GX ex-mines Prado bought 3 years ago for under $20,000 with 200,000k's on the clock.
Instantlly added lovells 40mm lift, advanti riot rims and 265 70 BFG's.


Custom made rear draws using accuride lock-in lock-out draw slides rated at 226kg.


Recessed trailer plug and anderson plug into rear bumper, sick of ripping them off at 4wd parks.

Dual battery system using 90amp/hr agm battery and dual mate management system. Here's the link http://www.acecom.com.au/dualmate.htm . Tried a lot of different systems over the years in various 4wd's but this thing is fantastic. You can press the test button at any time with-out the keys in the ignition and see the voltage of both main and auxillary batteries. You can also jump start the car should you have a flat main battery buy pressing the auxillary on button. It has a 30 second delay on linking the auxillary battery for charging from when you start the car which charges the 2nd battery about twice as quick as other systems because it catches the alternator when it is putting out a higher voltage as compared to waiting untill the main is full, the alternator dropping back to a float voltage and then trying to charge the 2nd battery of this lower voltage. It also has a manual override switch which lets me charge our camper trailer through its dc-dc charger with out having to have the car running. Sorry for me raving on but I really love this system.

Put in ARB rear air-locker and plumbed an old blue tongue 111 compressor to a reserve tank mounted behind the rear bumper. Tank is a 9L boss alloy tank and bolted straight in through 2 bolts holding same guards on.


Recessed cb into centre console to try and cover some old bracket holes.


Thats it at the moment, like everyone I still have alot on the wish list. After owning 3 nissan patrols previous to the playdo, the last having 7" lift and 35's, these prados still continue to amaze me where they will go.

Looking good. You should put up a frontal shot of the black Sovereign bar. They are rare as hen's teeth.
Your spare tyre looks real close to the rear door.

Where did u get the recessed plugs from?

I was hoping someone would spot this and find it usefull, as it's usually the little things that make the biggest difference. They are standard Narva trailer plugs, I just drilled holes in the rear bumper in line with some holes that are stamped into the chassis behind it. For the anderson plug, I just took to one of the trailer plugs with a die grinder until it fit, leaving a tag at the back to bolt it to.

Hi phlix, your draws look great! I am looking at doing something similar. It appears in the pictures you have used plywood, what thickness did you use? I want mine to be sturdy but not excessively heavy.
