Haven't posted on here for some time regarding build up. Suspension is not working out how I'd planned which is disappointing. Toytec in the states cannot guarantee a higher spring rate will not lead to damage of the shock body over time and seem reluctant to test further. The setup I was looking at we're modified toytec shocks, adjustable from 2"-3" in height. I've been working with locktup4x4 in Perth on the design and Chris at locktup has been in constant communication with toytec for what we're looking for and with me on progress, which has ground to a halt for the time being.
Chris is interested in designing his own 3" lift for the Prado, but as of yet there is no timeframe on the availability of the system an not sure on when it will be ready for delivery. The other issue I have is the carport. With larger tyres and lift the car may very well not be able to fit under the carport, which is crap. Usually, if it was my place, I'd modify the carport to accommodate the lift, but seeming its BHP's house I'm stuck there. Have also been hunting around and trying to get information from Darren at Autocraft on a 60mm lift that should leave around 15-20mm of clearance between the rack and the carport once installed.
Until then it is a waiting game, but hoping to have the Prado finished for a possible Gibb river trip come July/August. The list is down to a few components that need to be fitted: Tyres, leaning towards Cooper S/Tmaxx, suspension, upper control arms, aftermarket bash plates for engine and transmission, hot water shower, water tank, rear reverse light, kaymar rear bar and fit the front recovery points to round out the buildup. Hoping to get started on all of this once the weather cools down a bit.
Alright. All previous efforts have now been scrapped re suspension. Searching the net and various forums I believe I may have hit pay dirt. I stumbled across a company by the name of Monster Rides (link below) I'll be in communications with these blokes in the coming months in order to get a kit sorted to my specs. They offer a kit or the 120 Prado and judging by some pics the thing looks bloody awesome.
Will do mate, now that the weather has cooled down enough to get back outside and work on the car there's a whole list of stuff still to do. Just waiting on some adhesive cable bases then I'll get the ERPS installed. Got a few of the blokes from work interested in the sort of setup I have so weekends will be chock full for a bit replicating my system on a few other Prado's, a 76 wagon and a GU IV Patrol. Tyres and suspension are the big ones on the list then I'll enjoy the best the Pilbara and Kimberly has to offer while the dry season is in full swing, November til April is spent in the pool with a few beers... Come to think of it that's all year round up here. Went out to Doolena Gorge over Easter and had a mad long weekend baking damper, cooking roasts on the fire and wheelin around Marble Bar, hangin out to do some more of it as soon as I get some of these other Prado's out the way. I'll post a few pics up from the trip over Easter.
Chris what a great build up, just starting my Altitude (see jinandrew in build up forum) Anzac Day I ran all my cables for my BCDC 1220, Optima battery, With 12v plug and Anderson for our van. Also did the ARB trailer brakes just for good measure and my UHF
My question is round the ARB sidewinder battery level meter. How do you find this? It is exactly what I was thinking of putting in.
Firstly thanks for the feedback, its always good to see other members getting something out the forum. Dereck has an online store on eBay, can't remember the store name but I'm sure if you pm him he'd be happy to let you know. Alternatively you could search cables and switches on eBay under the cars section and track him through one of his listings.
Any trick to getting the link to work other than cutting and pasteing into explorer?
I am getting an access denied prompt
Cheers
Dave
Hi Dave
Don't want to take over Samozzles build, but you can just go to http://www.toyota-tech.eu and then under either the general tab or owner tab select Accessory Installation Manuals and pick which one you want. The trailer plug wiring ones are good for the rear interior panels etc.
