120 Prado Rock Sliders

After the "successful" rear bumper project I felt motivated to build the rock sliders myself.

I finished to work today....tomorrow we will deliver the sliders to the panel beater who will first spray a filler coating (to cover my welding holes/spots ) and then they will give it a paint job!

The material is as follows:

75mm x 50mm x 3mm rectangular tubing
60mm x 3mm round tubing
the U brackets are made from 8mm steel plate
the brakets between the U brackets and tubing are from 6mm steel plate

Very nice, you going to have a front mudflap? If not the side is going to get covered in crap and stone chips.

I am just waiting for stainless steel plates with brackets. These will be fitted next to each door to act as side steps....then I will have the sliders painted. I guy will laser cut the words "Prado" on the SS plates.....I think it will look great!

The mud flaps? Yes D4D, I had a look at the existing units......I believe I might be able to cut them in such a way that they will still with the round tubing going through them. I have made the sliders in such a way that they are not too close to the front wheels.....just so that they will still allow the flaps to be mounted. Let's hope that idea will work!

120 Rock Sliders

How did you go with fitting the mud flaps to the front wheel wells? Your rock sliders are hands down the best design I've seen, and I'd like to copy them (best form of flattery I think). Before I do the install though, it would be nice to see how the mud flaps went in.
