Gee, bad luck with the write off Jamie.. Yeah, I love this model.. My old man has a 150 GX.. Sure it's a smooth ride, but I prefer the fewer bells and whistles of the 120 and the interior layout. Having the traction control on the 120 is awesome and I doubt I'll ever bother adding a locker..

Andrew, that TJM plate in the other thread is a reasonable amount different to the one I received.. You can see it has the diagonal folds for extra rigidity, which mine doesn't.. Overall I think the other plate looks much stronger.. Damn

I was going to mention the same thing. My TJM plates are the same as Andrews, quite different to yours. I'd be checking to make sure they haven't given you old stock or something.

Just drove home after getting my new Bailey's injectors and the inlet manifold and throttle body cleaned - over 100km trip that is.. work was done by Andrew's Auto Electrical in Parkes, NSW. I'm very happy with the service I got from Matt, and the car is driving heaps better after the work

Just back from doing over 1000km round trip for the long weekend.. Amazing how much more guts the Prado has now.. Feels as though I've been driving on three cylinders up until now..
Towing 800kgs of camper and it now holds top gear up most rises while cruising at 100kph..

Went and saw TJM about my underbody plate (sump and transmission guard) - they confirmed the part number was correct and didn't seem too interested in trying to track down the different style plate for me - what they did do is hand me a couple of bolt head protectors to look after the exposed bolts I was unhappy about, and also had a look under the car to confirm the fit was good.. turns out the cutout for the diff is so that the drain plug can be accessed to drop the diff oil without removing the plate - still not sure how I feel about having the diff a bit exposed like that though..

Other job for the weekend was to address the paint damage and rust that was caused from a battery acid spill in the engine bay.. I was advised to hit it with baking soda to neutralise the acid, then clean it up and repaint. It was a bit hard to get in under all the wiring looms, but I think I manged to clean up the worst of it.

Pics of the paint damage and rusting - this is under the starter battery at front left of engine bay:





I gave it a clean with a rag soaked in baking soda and water, then hit it with wire wheels to clean off the flaking paint and remove any loose surface rust - the rust turned out to be only superficial. Then brushed on a paste of baking soda and little water, and finally cleaned everything up with degreaser and washed it off.

And finally hit it with some black primer/paint. Pics are after the first coat.. I hit it with an extra coat after this.

Have now installed my Provent catch can and Fuel Manager second fuel filter - the pics below show where they fit. I was really pressed for space in the usual locations because I have the ARB compressor where the second fuel filter would usually go; brake master cylinder where the catch can would go and second battery at the front drivers side corner...

So I got creative and created a couple of brackets out of various bits and pieces I had lying in the shed. The fuel filter is mounted off the front of the compressor mounting bracket I got from AMTS, with a couple of extra brackets to make sure it is nice and solid. The Provent is mounted to the wheel arch below the fuse box on a bracket that stands off from the panel.

Having the intercooler off while I was doing this gave me a chance to check out how well the crud had been cleaned out when I got the intake manifold and throttle body cleaned - I was happy to see it all squeaky clean. Great to know a quality job was done by Andrew's Auto Electrics in Parkes (well earned plug )
