KK time for an update. I have may a false floor with some boxes underneath. covered it in carpet and its looking schmicko. Bought a fridge slide of a mate in the 4wdclub and in the process of cleaning it up and repainting it.

just gotta hook up the 12v pump and stuff

I also have all the tube for the sliders so I will have to pull my finger out

Awesome buildup Joel, she looks mean with the big tyres and 4" lift. Nice work on the shelf in the back, you have given me some good ideas for my rig.

Was there much involved in doing the body lift ? Was it costly ?
How have you found the ARB compressor ? Does it handle pumping up 4 tyres without over heating ?

          Cheers,
          Alan

Forget rock sliders. Looks like you almost need a full exo-cage if that's the kind of terrain you're driving in!

            Looks good.

Ok, heres the rear worklight pics,

That idea of how the light is mounted is mint!!!

that is awesome! dumb question where do I run that cable through to the inside, is there a place without drilling a hole haha.
Need to make up one my self, dads a welder, and he loves small jobs like this. As the artist in I I am useless at all things welding since high school lmao!

Alan, The body lift was alot easier then expected. $120 for the bodyblocks with have a steel crushtube and are black so they don't stand out like dogs balls. I got the bolts, washers & nuts from work. I did it myself in a day of mucking around, only had to lower the radiator, which has mount holes 2inches lower then standard and customise the bullbar mounts to suit.

The arb compressor pumps up a mates 37inch tyres from about 6-8 psi to road pressure in about 4mins a tyre, hasnt overheated yet.(not 100% what his road pressure is, cause I let him pump em up.)

Good work Matt. they are very handy, my driveway is 20m long and dark and Ang likes having the light for reversing. Only thing is its not hooked up to reverse gear, its on a seperate switch. I've only accidentally left it on once.

Justin, this light bracket came on the car when we bought it, but it is a very clever design & simple too(although it wasn't wired up?!). I did drill a hole behind the wheel bracket. I just made sure the hole was touched up with paint and i put a gromet in the hole then ran the cable though that.

Next mod apart from sliders is a double-din reverse camera/dvd/satnav/everything, that I have mentioned early in the thread. I backed into another tree the other weekend ops:  it hit on the spare and pushed the rear door skin in a bit, so it hasn't taken much convincing to gain aprroval.

                    cheers,

Its a 12inch Kicker VR Comp sub, and it kicks  even though Im not into that doof doof music, it still adds to low tones that you otherwise dont hear with cardboard cones standard door speakers. lol

Its the first thing to go once we need to put a pram in there, but shouldn't be long after that and I'll have another 4b to put it in.

                        Re: The Prado Project. Jcas24

Thanks for the info Joel, i'm getting an ARB compressor fitted next week as well as front and rear lockers 8) and I'd hate it to cut out after 2 tyres like the inlaws TJM big red always does.
I think i might have to look into a body lift down the track so i can fit some bigger tyres. Did you still have to trim bits of the car to stop tyres rubbing, or did the body lift sort that problem ?

                        Cheers,
                        Alan

                          Re: The Prado Project. Jcas24

Alan, I do still get minimal scrubbing on the drivers side but only when the suspension is compressed and near full lock. I have removed the front mudflaps and cut away some of the inner guard that sticks out. I could cut more away and I still haev to have the castor adjusted. this will happen when I change back to the landcruiser wheels with a more suited offset. the rear rubs slightly on the inside upper guard at full compression.

I still want a front locker, but I won't spend much more on it as Im planning on building something for the harder tracks im starting to do. Dont wanna trash the prado and we'll keep it as our tourer/holiday car.

you will be suprised at the places you will go with the lockers. i want, iwant /jealous

Also everyone that has used/seen my compressor have being most impressed including Matt

Thanks Joel. Can't wait to get the lockers fitted then i'll get out there and do my best to get stuck  .
By the looks of some of your action shots in this thread and the other thread you just about need a locker or 2 with those front wheels up in the air like that, cool shots by the way. Once again nice rig mate.

                            Cheers,

Re: Jcas24 prado on the RTI Travel ramp.

Put my Prado up on the Travel ramp today at the local TJM Open Day.

I was impressed with an RTI score of 450. Another Prado in our club scored 436 and a GU patrol that went before me only scored 392. So I was pretty happy with that.

For those that dont know, RTI = Ramp Travel Index, its a way to measure the flex/articulation of a 4wd. To get an RTI score :- distance travelled up ramp divided by the vehicle wheelbase x1000 = RTI score.
