  • SWB 90 D4d - My first LC ever

    Hi!

First, I'd like to ask politely if it's OK to post a thread that's not really a rig build, though I couldn't find anywhere else to post this.

My goal with my first toyota wse, is to "refine" it.

First thing first: I've bought a KDJ90 D-4D, 83000km 2001. It has electric sunroof, electric rearview mirrors and rear difflock. It's what the germans call it "special equiped" with front bullbar, sidesteps and spare tire cover.

My plans for this ride is below, and I'll continuosly update the "to-do list". Since I'll be using my prado mostly at duty, I won't need extreme offroad abilities. I'm head of 72 "pilots" driving all kinds of forest harvesters (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harvester_(forestry)) and forwarders (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forwarder)

    To-do:
§ Adding som "dynamat" to the fenders and doors - [STARTED]
§ Mounting a Webasto - [STARTED] (will take some time)
    § Painting all chrome-details black
§ Tinting the three rear windows
    § Replacing footstep with rock-slider
§ Building car Hi-Fi, maybe even a Carputer
§ Buying a set of wheels for the winter here in sweden - [DONE} (17" original 120 prado rims with Nokian Hakkepelitta 5)
§ Prepare the car for RUST (very common issue in sweden) - [STARTED]
§ Mounting dual Lightforce extra headlights - [DONE]
§ Replacing side flasher glass with clear glass - [DONE]
    § Adding rear bull bar
    § Adding extra reverse light
§ 3" stainless steel exhaust from turbo
    § TTE-chip (or similar)
§ Mounting trunk light - [started]
§ Fix automatic front light (standard in sweden)

First I mounted the extra head lights and the clear glass flashers:

Started the "rust protection and sound deadening plan" also:

      1. Teared down the doors

      2. Put sound damping mats (black) and rust-fluid (brown-beige). Also glued new protection plastic-foam, UV-proof, to the doorskin.

      3. Done?

          Re: My first LC ever

Asked my buddy to photoshop a pic, so that I could see how the car would look with black details. Here's the result

So I bought a set of bad 120's serie wheels

Blastered and painted them "silk black"

          What ya think?

Good to see another 90 Series joining up and a D4D powered 3 door at that, peformance shouldn't be a problem!!

Keep posting as you do your build as you have obviously planned what you want to do and will be interesting to see it take shape

                          Re: My first LC ever

                          Hello!

Today I used my prado as a "4WD" for the first time. My friend had an old wheel-cottage (don't know english word, not really a caravan. Mostly used as a workshop and a place to dry clothes/eat for the forest workers) that had stuck in some bad muddy terrain. Managed to drag it out of there even without using difflocks. It was fun anyway!

                          Success:

                            quite cold outside this afternoon.

I will try to mount the webasto this week, and also put in the extra interior light in the back...

Interesting, what do you add to your diesel fuel over there to stop it waxing up at those temperatures ?
