It was only with the Toyota bar, it was the mounting system that was causing the cracks, so they changed/modified the mounting system, all other bars are fine.97 VX Grande, with front & rear air lockers, ARB Sahara winch bar with tigers 11 winch, 2" EFS lift, 265/75/16 Achilles Desert hawk XMT, and more.

Why would you put on an aftermarket alloy bar? I'm curious. Most people who get an aftermarket bar would choose steel.2004 Prado GXL. v6 auto, ARB deluxe bar, exhaust, 2" EFS lift kit, Outback Acc rear bar,
rallye 2000 spots, roof mount dvd, dig_options stereo, toyota roof bars.
More to come!

As a guide, the sovereign bar (toyo aluminium) is not usually fitted by people outside Toyo. That said, you may get lucky where someone has grabbed a second hand one and fitted it. It may be worthwhile posting up what type of rig you have ie, 90, 120, 150.
Note: assuming you are referring to the Sovereign bar not a TJM bar.Bitumen: A blatant waste of taxpayers money!

The problem with inner guard cracking was when early on, people were noticing that the ARB steel bars were moving a lot relative to the bonnet. What ARB did was to tighten the bolt on the body mounts to reduce the movement. But what happened was that this created stresses at the inner guards which led to cracking.
Since then, there has been no issues.
However, recently, i came across a 2008 D4D with a steel bullbar with cracks on both sides of the inner guards. The Prado was purchased from the NT and has possibly had a hard life, or the previous owner thought that it was better to tighten the body mount bolts.
