  • Are Prados the most popular 4wd wagon?

I've just come back from Sydney via the Bells Line of Road and I swear that Prados coming in the other direction had to be the most common 4wd vehicle. I'm tempted to do a count some time, but I've tended to lump 4wd utes as one category rather than break into brands (cause I care more about wagons) but even so, I still thought that the Prados (all variations) came out on top.

    Of course I'm biased!

Still, you'd never get the feeling that Prados are popular if you depended upon the reporting in the various 4wd magazines.

    Just a thought.

While they are not a very scientific stats, there are 79 200 series for the MY2010 vs 160 Prados for the same model year.

Well there is that about them - but it means that us second-hand buyers can pick up a vehicle where the only problem is chewing gum marks on the seats - so long as there are no Fanta stains as no power on earth will remove Fanta stains.

I would have thought the pajero would have been a bit more popular due to lower price and similar ability. 8)

Yeah but the Hi / Lo shifter will be permanently stuck in HI
They should just make a 2WD version - no T case or front diff.
              Cheers, Wayne

Thankfully, I'm not a big-boofy-bogan-he-man type who thinks that he has to drive a Patrol to be a *real* man

I rest content in the knowledge that my vehicle is comfortable to drive,is quite practical as a daily urban driver, is very capable as a tourer and off-roader, and is generally very reliable. What's not to like?

I don't know the sales stats, but from my unscientific observation, The Bells Line of Road on last Sunday evening was Prado territory. Pajeros were few and far between.

As for being "soccer mums", that would be possible as they were all heading towards Sydney, while I was enjoying my favourite sight - Sydney disappearing in my rear vision mirror.

Actually quite a few were towing trailers that looked like they might have contained go karts. Now what does that suggest?

Re: Are Prados the most popular 4wd wagon?

Travelling through France recently it was the same story, Prados everywhere you go.
Don't recall seeing any Pajeros though, just the odd very old Patrol or Landcruiser.
                      But the Prados were king.

                      Cheers.
