The positives far outweigh the negatives for me. I'm still happy with mine after 12 months.

        Iron Paww,
I brought a Turbo Lite 270 Plus from BCF yesterday after much deliberating about which tent to get. Was thinking the 300 but found the extra bit on the Plus brilliant. Also felt the Lite a better option for what we do. Poor b**rs, I asked them to set the 270Plus up in the store as I wanted to see if it was much more hassle to set up and pack away than with the extension added and was unsure how it attached. They then had to double up and do it again the next day for wife and grandkids to check out. He still gave me a $50 discount which was cheapest I had found including net. However when I went to pay, the discount was refused. I started to burr up a bit until he explained the tent had just come up on the computer as a member discount and I was getting $150 off. So I ended up getting it for $549. Also, as I hadn't been able to find any mention of a Turbo 270 on Black Wolf site or anywhere else, I was again a little suss and expected it to be 240. Took the tape along and it is 270, so I think this is an excellent bargain all round. The salesman did warn me while they are easy to set up, a tad more difficult to pack as hard to get back to same size. It was a problem at first but then when you take your time it's okay.
        Cheers

Yeah Cjd I looked at a 270 plus in BCF a week ago and it looked good. is there much extra hassle with the extension? The 270 I think would be overkill for us though. The tent will only be for me and my girlfriend for the time being so I was pondering the 210 for a while too. That was in the $400.00 price range from Ranger Camping here in Perth. But seems the 240 isn't that much more expensive. I don't think I've seen a 240 listed anywhere near $549.00! At that price I'd buy one tomorrow!

            IRON-PAWW,

We have had no issues at all with our Turbo Tent. Once you work out the correct technique packing up i is almost as easy as set up.

We have camped through a couple of big storms this winter. The tent handles wind extremely well and has remained dry.

I use tents quite a bit, I've managed to wear out top of the line nylon (breathable material) ones (~$1500) from use in about 18 months. Often the fabric just UV rots and/or the zippers fail.

Part of my work requires I often setup a base camp and work out of it for weeks on end and the other half of the time I'd rather sleep in the bush or beach than in a hotel room. I have 5 different tents, all for different climates.

I have come to the conclusion you really get what you pay for. You got a nice 4wd why not buy a decent tent.

The best touring tent I have is the 'Campmor Outdoors - Special bow' I got it back in 1999.
                http://www.campmoroutdoor.co.za/photoga ... hoto_id=91

                I got it in parramatta:
                http://www.kangarootentcity.com.au/welcome/page55.php

Unless I am staying more than one night I don't use the cover tarp (half the stow size). It is selfsupporting, can be put up by one adult and can handle wind both from the inside and out. The best bit is you can stand to get dressed

The only problem I have had is a zipper wore out after about 16months of combined use (which is more than most tents are used in their entire life), I got it replaced for $50.
"Ooops I just deleted the internet, lucky I was able to recover 99.7% of it out of the bin"

                    Re: Blackwolf Turbo Tents

Brought one about 6 months ago at same place. It was a bigger one with add on section. Brilliant. Light, plenty strong enough and we've given it a caning. BCF even negotiated on sale price. I like that it fits in wagon okay and doesn't need a trailer to tote it (that's what turned me off the Ozi tent. Anyway, we're certainly happy with ours and it even worked in the rain.

                      Re: Blackwolf Turbo Tents

Yeah I've noticed that BCF often seem to have them included in some sale or other. I bought a 250 Lite last year and am very happy with it. Fits in very nicely crossways behind the 2nd row seats. Interestingly, I bought mine at Joondalup fishing and camping world which had the best price by a fair margin last year. Although Anaconda recently had a very good special on all tents which I think might just have trumped the price I got. Very good tents. Very well made. You just need to get the knack of folding them back up. My choice was between the Turbo tents and the OZ tents in the end. Came down to price. The very good thing about Anaconda too is that they'll beat any competitors price by 10% (I think it's 10%) even if the item is on special at the competitor. The only thing is that the competitor has to have one on the shelf at the time you buy yours at Anaconda. Worth remembering. I got over $100 off a Coleman HWOD at Anaconda during the K-Mart camping sale.

EDIT: The FS 270... is that the BCF only one? Might kill the Anaconda Idea but that's still a very good price.

For the Turbo 300 that Leachy got, does it fit east west in the back of the prado, or do you need a roof rack. I will be getting a rack soon, just need to clarity how big the rack needs to be length wise to fit nicely north south on the rack.

                          Re: Blackwolf Turbo Tents

Mine's the Turbo Lite 270 Plus, which has an extra leanto type room at the back and it easily fits East West. They are quite compact in the carry bag although the zips on the carry bag are a tad crappy, just need to be careful. As IP said, folding back up takes practice, but it ain't roacket science. For us, that it could fit East West was a major factor as we then didn't need a roofrack.

If you are looking for a tent for a one nighter I dont think you can go past the EPE Speede tent. It opens in less than a second and takes about 10 seconds to close up. Sure it is small, the one I have is only a 2 person, but there is a new 3 person one available and it is so simple to set up and takes up very little room in the car or in the racks. I have been using one now for 2 years over 6 or so trips and found it great. Because it is one piece I never even tie it down. Just check the bedding in it and it is good to go.

Yep I think the Blackwolf 250 and 270's fit into bags of the same length. I certainly had no trouble putting mine east west in behind the 2nd row seats. Just put some towels or something at either end if you're worried about the tent poles damaging the plastic lining in the cargo area. Then I had the 40L Engel in front of the Blackwolf (lengthways) and it all fitted like a charm. Jeez just talking about it makes me want to load up again and head off.

Jimmy do you have a pic of the Speede tent??

We have a Turbo 210 Lite that we bought at the Perth 4wd and camping show last year(2008). Great tent, so easy to put up I do it myself while my wife organizes the drinks. Only problem with it we found was after our canning stock route trip it had worn holes in it where the release pins on the poles rubbed in transit. Took it in to our local Black Wolf agent and we ended up with a replacement no questions asked. Still reckon its the best tent I've owned. Just might need some reinforcing in that area.
