  • Pay Pal & EBay

Bought an item on ebay (weather shieds for the Mrs Getz) and it's gone tits up, a mob called "carcarekorea" sent the wrong kind and are now just ignoring my emails, I contacted ebay till I'm blue in the face and they just keep herding me to Pay Pal who are just giving me the runaround I've now been in touch with ebay SIX times and still they direct me to paypal, how the hell do I get them to deal with the claim and not paypal, god I wish I'd never heard of that mob as soon as I can get this mess sorted out I'll be closing that account ASAP, be aware guys just when you need them they'll twist, scam, delay, what ever it takes , but they wont pay up and thats for sure,
I'm now one really peed off customer who's mission is to tell as many as poss' what a useless pointless waste of time paypal really is.............and ebay are'nt much better my whole arguement is thier supposed to be looking after the customer and they just dont want to know, buyer beware aye ?

I've had problems on eBay before and eBay and paypal have always been great sorting things out.

I assume you've raised a proper claim through eBay and paypal?

After you've done this the seller has a specific amount of time to reply, if they don't reply then paypal will refund your money.

Wooley I've done ALL they require and more mate the problem arises when you put in the user id it's not recognised, then the item number has the same problem after more than enough time trying to sort this mess out I've spat it and dont want to deal with them at all, but because I was registered with them ebay keeps sending me back to them I'm now at the end of telling them I dont want to do business with them but thier just not getting it so how do you get through to them ? this thing's getting bigger than Ben Hur mate honestly........

        I feel your pain.
Always buyer beware, in life we take risk even on new items as expendsive as cars and houses.

Did the seller have a lot of trades? Good rating?
I'm new to eBay this year, it seems a lot of issues buying, but the seller usually fixes the problem has been my experience.

Lodge with Paypal..... not Ebay. Record the item as 'Not as described' Submitt..... The Vendor then has 14 days to rectify, if not, Paypal will request you to submitt proof that you have returned the item..... and will then refund your purchase price.
14 years of trading on Ebay and never had a problem not solved by Paypal....

I believe that Paypal is now owned by Ebay, thats why they are telling you to deal with Paypal

I had a few dramas a couple of years ago but everything was resolved in my favour and have continued to deal with both companies since. You just have to jump through the hoops.

                Hi davy,

Ive had a few problems with stuff off ebay over the years, its always been handled well by payapal though. Was refunded by paypal every time after their hoops were satisfied. Only time I lost out was on a bank transfer which is impossible to refund once sent, but we live and learn. Its not nice when you trust a seller to hold up their end of a deal and they bail out.

Unfortunately ebay themselves wont do squat, because basically they dont have to. From memory, amongst all of their legal terms and disclaimers the make the point that they take no responsibility for the transactions between buyers and sellers that are being hosted on their site. They do have their own conflict resolution system in place but cant do anything about sellers who set up an account then cut and run after a transaction has been made. As I said a bank transfer is hard to reverse. Which leaves ebay's favourite partner paypal who by and large are fairly good with returning funds once the red tape is satisfied, however if they cant match a claim request with a current active ebay account they're unlikely to refund a transaction.

Its a flawed system at some points davy and it really sucks when someone rips you off. remember iv'e been there too. Now days I read all the sellers feedback good and bad before buying off a new seller. As a rule I stay away from sellers who are in hong kong or korea, its often quite easy to pick up their poor spelling and punctuation in the item descriptions. I do this for two reasons, (a) all of the products iv'e bought from china or korea have been poor quality, or have worked for a while then had problems; hence the cheap prices! and (b) It always takes 2 to 3 weeks for parcels from asia to get through australian customs.

I know none of this info helps your current situation mate but it might ward some other poor suckers off buying from sellers that can't be trusted. The more people that know who to avoid when shopping online the better.

Spot on GVX it DID take that long to arrive and yes they are a dodgy lot but as you said I did do a bit of back groung research and all though they were running about 98% there was a few in my boat with the same gripe. look I'm really not complaing so much about the mess it's more ebays "oh well it's gone wrong but paypal will deal with the hard stuff" attitude that pee's me off, I did remind them that they make money from the vendors so should have a moral obligation to at least put pressure on the shonkeys but deaf ears mate, never mind lesson learnt move on, and does any one want to buy a set of weather shields ???
