I'm heading to the cape in a couple of weeks I'm keen to have a go at some land fishing(no boat) is there anywhere anyone recommends having a go? I'm not much of a fisherman but I'm taking the old man up and we are both keen to have a good go! Any help will be appreciated!

the only land based fishing spot that i would have liked to try was when you venture out to the very tip . the tide rips around the tip creating massive eddies to the gulf side at high tide. myself and a couple of other guys were standing there wishing we had brought our rods out to the tip with us. its a 15 minute hike each way . or charter a local up there , but book it in advance .03 grande v6 , with added stuff that makes it go places . RTFM people !

Depends where your going, but Vrilya Point on the west coast is supposed to be great. I can't recommend "Cape York - An Adventurer's Guide" by Ron & Viv Moon highly enough. It has heaps of info you would need for planning your trip. It's note the be all and end all, but it's bloody close.
Cheers,

The Weipa and Seisia jetty's are suppose to be pretty good ... though we didn't have any luck. There is a creek down from the Chilli Beach camp ground which wasn't too bad.
I agree with Dusty, the Ron and Viv Moon book is highly recommended, full of lots of good information.Paul

Agree that Weipa and Seisia wharves are good. We caught (and also lost) many fish there. Buy a jigger line (my name for them) to catch bait.Michael and Kelly
