  • Lose the Lurker

Not having much to offer in the way of mechanical knowledge, I do struggle to actively participate in a lot of topics as there are many more people here with much more quality to add than what I could. Accordingly I have trouble increasing my message count to increase my member's status as I don't want to just post useless rubbish (well perhaps other than this )

As a result, here is a thread to allow those of us sitting on 29 posts to send something to move us to 30 messages thus losing the lurker tag!!!

It is a horrid name. I recall it being raised about a year or two ago when the forum underwent an upgrade.

Congrats on the brand new title and now look at the bright side. As a junior member no one will call you old, irrespective of your age.

Lurker tag has been discussed and will not be removed in the forseeable future. Easiest way to move away from the "lurker status", contribute to the introductions thread, start a buildup page, post photos and trip reports for your adventures...

Asking questions (using the search first... ) and contributing to the existing threads for outstanding or updating with your experiences on issue resolutions.

good luck and enjoy the forum.

I think Lurker sums up my initial pp experience. I had my heart set on buying another hilux, but came across this site after googling Hilux vs Prado, became hooked on the site. I spent a lot of time lurking, reading, and forming my own opinions from everyones experience. I then ended up buying a 150 GXL, absolutly love it! So I suppose I should start my own build thread to give back to the pp community! So until I rack up a few more posts I'll happily continue to be a lurker..

Good to see some positive experiences for a change. Well done JPH!, look forward to seeing your build thread.

Thanks Craigm, the build is a work in progress, as they usually are. I've been without a 4wd for about 9 years, so time to get back in the bush, have some fun and show my kids our great country!

                    Simon

I don't think anyone saw it as a complaint. Some free advice though, keep the lurking to the forums. Some women and the courts don't accept my, I mean anyone's argument that, she was my girlfriend but I just hadn't asked yet

mlc - purveyor, not lurker. (due for release in 3 months)

Certainly not a misinterpretation from my end either Bendman. My comment about positive experiences to JPH was actually relating to banter on other threads. (therefore off topic ---- My Bad!)
                      Thanks for sharing.

As for lurking, it's only harassment if they don't want it!
and even then they don't know what they want really so I was willing to decide for them, although the judge didn't accept that argument either......

When I surf around and visit different forums searching for info I am often amazed at the huge post numbers some people have. I am on a welding forum that is the same age as Pradopoint, both started in 2006, and there are plenty of guys on there nudging 15,000 posts!

I remember visiting a forum for dual fuel stoves and one guy on there had posts well into the thousands, which is amazing for a product with about 3 moving parts

The welding forum I am on has a thread just for people to post in to get their post numbers up, its a bit of laugh and a giggle, they are all excited because its getting close to 1000 replies now and everyone is positioning themselves trying to get the magical 1000th post.

only 981 more posts in this thread and we too can hit the 1000 mark

                              Cheers Andrew
