Well, its not Lake Gairdner. It's got a gate, but not a Dog Fence Gate, and the lake is well within the Dog Fence (PDF)

That gate doesn't look like the Gate on the way to Muloorina, so from the map, that leaves Lake Frome, Lake Callabonna, Lake Blanche, Lake Gregory plus other smaller lakes not marked on the map. Any takers? I'm pretty sure Lake Frome is not easily approachable, but I don't know about the others.

Well I'll guess this is part of the "Pinch of Salt" track heading out from the Prairie Hotel. I would assume the lake is part of Lake Torrens.

yes! well it did for us... we drove thru there to get to the spot. There's probably other ways of course.

not sure, we did cross and use another road to get there as well as the track from Balcanoona. We left our camper up at the Rangers station (after asking) but I can't remember how long it took to drive down, maybe 3/4->1hr.

Do you still need to be out of the Balcanoona road by a certain time so that the traditional owners can do their stuff?

Where is it, and what is the name of the locally famous dirt road you see in the right of frame?

Bonus points if you recognise and know anything about the lonely old nag. She's been there for years, and always in that paddock.

yes, hunting is the nominated activity if I remember right

Hint: The Road gives it's name to a rather nice Cabernet.

The winery that makes the Cabernet has a panorama shot of the area, including that horse up on the wall in one of it's tasting rooms. The other room has a night shot of the courtyard which can be bought as a poster.

The winery is small, but well known for high quality wines, especially their big reds.

If you target the winery, keep your powder dry. Once you place it 10 seconds on google maps would put the name of the road in your sights. :idea:
