    • Muzza the sharp shooter strikes again :!: :!:

Well done, Bendleby Ranges it is.

      http://www.bendlebyranges.com/

Check it out if you are over this way and looking for somewhere undeveloped to camp and explore. Not for the run-of-the-mill tourist, but definitely a place 4wders and campers will love.

The owners of the two adjoining properties are doing a great job at developing some extra income for their farms. Really nice people.

Away you go muzza (got any pics of Curmudgea West :?: )

PS Fishnut, were either of those pics of the wallabies yours or Mrs Fishnuts?

      • well now...

That was a hard one Lofty...mainly because the pic you put up could be any of 1000 views in the South Flinders....there were no outstanding peaks to give me a clue.

The give away was the view from the top down on the camp area.

I was going to go Bendleby but thought the hills looked more like Argadell........but if that failed Bendleby was the best fit to your clue.

Anyway....here is a Curmudgea West shot.....all 3 pics are of the one location.......you can give the Cape's name or the town to win! Only clue is it is windy down there most of the time but is a pleasant spot with spectacular scenery and a nice quiet atmosphere that even Tim Winton would approve of!

alas, nope - I have some of the BFRW (in Cape Range), but not digitised and unfortunely, I've never seen the YFRW. As plucker noted - they all look like they have black feet anyways.

                    • yup

yup indeed it is Salmon Beach, Windy harbour and Pt D'Entrecasteaux.

Windy harbour is now becoming a unique experience...one of the few surviving beach shack settlements...

Approximately 220 cottages have been developed on individual leases since the early 1900's. Leasehold tenure, seasonal occupation and a strong community spirit have generated a settlement of unique character.

After the great depression, inexpensive camping holidays on the south coast were favoured by many of the south west timber workers during the Christmas break when mills ceased to operate for several weeks. It was during these times that the strong social ties and community spirit, which still typify the Windy Harbour settlement, were first established. Fishing has always been, and still is, a major recreational activity at Windy Harbour and one of the principal reasons for establishment of the settlement.

The settlement is the only two-wheel drive access to the south coast between Augusta and Walpole and provides visitors with spectacular scenery, safe harbour on the rugged coast line and rewarding fishing.

                      Over to you Chuck.

                          • When I was there about 10 years ago there was a spectacular incident in one of the 'huts' when someone tried to kick start a camp fire with about 10 litres of unleaded. Quite a big camp fire, hut fire, bush fire etc etc as I recall.

I also spoke with a guy who was trying to cast his line into the waves in about a force 6 gale, when I asked if it was always like this he said "nah sometimes it gets windy down here."

                            Wasn't you was it Muzza????????????????????????????

well, I have been known to start some major camp fires! But no that wasn't me.....

Mate of mine has a hut down there, great place.

Once there were lots of places like Windy about, but no longer, alas.
