    • Have had two "major" (well in my house they are) appliances go on the blink...

Microwave - still works, but Mrs. Ryback put in a heat pad (for her arthritis) into the 'wave - and now the turntable doesn't work.....
Coffee Machine - Caffitaly - has lost the plot, usually make a full cup from a pod, noooo - now it decides that you get 1/8 of a cup, and dumps the rest of the hot water into the pod/drip tray.

I guess the 2" lift will have to wait a bit longer...

You bought a coffee machine before you lifted the Prado - what were you thinking? Get your priorities in order man.

Not a $$$$ but a $ machine, I go though coffee machines pretty regularly - I like my morning travel mug of real coffee.

That isn't the worry, the GM had consultants to look at IT....reading between the lines, looks like we might be outsourced....

Gunna have to let the dust settle a bit, before I can go spend money with my mate at TJM....

At the current rate, we will all be moving to India or somewhere else in Asia so we can have a job.

              • oh really? What part of Canuckistan you from?

I used to live in various parts of the US and for awhile there I was hauling large 5th campers out of Alberta and delivering them across the lower 48. My favourite by far is Alaska and Canada. When I lived in Minnesota for awhile, used to grab the family and head north and spend the weekend camping in Thunder Bay. Mind you, border patrol was nearly always problematic for me. I would arrive at the border to get into Canada and nearly everytime it would take about 2 hours just to get me through. My (now ex) wife waltzed straight in. But me? Loaded up car and all my credit cards with me and about $2k cash... figured I was planning on doing a runner from the missus (probably should've) and stay in Canada.... next time went through with a couple of hundred bucks in my pocket and a single credit card with $1000 left on the limit.... didn't want to let me in as I didn't have enough if an emergency happened. Couldn't win! Getting back into the US... easy as pie. look at my passport. "Welcome home bud"

                • Well didn't tick me off but...2 four wheel drives towing caravans crashed into each other yesterday on the Anne Beadell about 200km east of Laverton. They were in the same party and travelling in the same direction. One 12yr old suffered a broken arm and another adult woman received a concussion injury requiring both to be flown to Perth via RFDS. Recovery vehicles from LA went out to recover the vehicles and trailers. Good way to wreck your holidays.

I really miss Alaska. American immigration types are amongst the worst to deal with.

Heh, my problem was the Canadian Border Patrol. Strangely (shockingly) the yanks gave me no trouble... welcomed me "home" as I came back in to MN

Alberta born and bread (Calgary Native) - Tassie immigration didn't seem to notice the red on my neck! I'm on my oh, let's say 4th career doing IT Admin (notworking and dealing with PEBCAK's).

Met Mrs. Ryback at Lake Louise Ski Area in '96....

Tassie isn't too bad, but the ol' $$$ don't seem to go very far anymore....

You must have the correct documentation identifying you as someone thats entitled to be there. For us entering as visitors its a less than pleasant experience. Having said that - its worth it for the Halibut and Silver Salmon fishing in Kachemak bay!

                          • Started a new job this week , took over as service manager of a manager Holden dealership (sorry its not Toyota) that is having major issues with customer retention , quality of work etc , i got a call to see if could help
Anyway to cut a long story short , my brain was ready to explode Monday night after spending the day just observing , attitude , state of the shop etc
So today i start to get the guys in to find out whats been going on, well i don't own the business , but after 3 hours i had to go for a walk from what i was hearing about the previous service manger's (yes multiple) , i actually worked there about 18 years ago so i know what should be in the workshop
The tool store is missing at least 1/2 of the specialized tools , no parts washer (apparently one was bought) no compression testers , no tyre gauges , all the drum pumps are stuffed , crap every where ,absolutely no control over the workshop, i can fill a page
Anyway , got the dealer principle in and told him about the issues , he had been avoiding me because he heard i had been stomping around
He's is really not happy when i showed him what has been going on , but no wonder the dealerships get such a bad name when knobs are able to pull the wool over peoples eyes like this about whats happening , like i said i don't own it , but where is the pride of the people that get these jobs !!!!!!!
                            Rant sort of over

                            • Sounds like you have your work cut out for you Bear. Hopefully dealer principal will back you up and get what is needed. My mate use to be in the same position and he got a lot of mechanics off side but only as they had free run of the place and my mate come in and kicked some ass. Mobile phones were banned except during their breaks, He warned them if he saw them on it they would get a written warning, benchs were to be kept clean, use of plastic seat covers on all vehicles wether they were a piece of shit or not, no fooling around in the workshop, no radio's blaring, they wondered what hit them, BUT their customer service record turned around from the workshop been classed as useless and customer complaints went from sky high to virtually none. No pissing off on Friday arvo without checking with him first. At first he wasn't well liked and it weeded out the clown who thought they could stuff arse around, the ones that stayed ended up respecting him and still see's a lot of them today, He was thee 19 years and very well respected in the industry. Was very well known for problem solving and had great customer skills. He could have some one come in ready to kill some one to ending up having a coffee with them, that type of person but he also didn't talk or take shit from either staff or customers, just had the knack for defusing any issues...... Good luck with your new position... Cheers Steve
