Everyone knows Aussies can't spell. Comes from too much time in the sun playing sport instead of paying attention at school.Dave

For what its worth, I can understand people asking what part of the states are you from... it would be an easy mistake to make as the US accents are so varied and the population ratio to Canuckistan is hugely different. But the one that confused me was why Americans would ask me what part of New Zealand I was from. I mean come on!!!!! Look at the size of the two land masses and the population of the two. You've got like a 1 in 10 chance of someone with an accent like mine being from New Zealand and thats your choice?
The classic was still the guy who was convinced I was from the Middle East. The logic there really caught be by surprise. But he was Minnesota. Lol

Takkies vs Trainers vs Runners
Baakie vs pick up vs Ute
brookies vs shorts vs ruggers/boardies
Pepper vs Capsicum
Courgette vs Zucchini
Aubergine vs Egg Plant
Still can't say Doona though
I dated a Canadian for a while, and got attuned to the accent so I am always surprised when Canadians get confused for Americans. Its the same for NZ/Aus I suppose? If you know the accent, its obvious if you don't. I was told they ask Aussies if they're from New Zealand because Kiwis don't mind being mistaken for Aussies, but Aussies hate being called Kiwi.[SIZE=2]120 GXL D4D Auto, with a 'List of Wants' greater than the 'List of Needs' greater than the 'List of Haves'

A lot of terms will vary from state to state just to confuse things more

RanJ, way back in 1995 I went across to the US for a few weeks mainly to attend the Oshkosh aviation convention (beautiful town and great people),during my time over there I stayed in San Francisco ( Really worth a visit) and I used to go to Union Square for breakky every day.
On one occasion I was staying in a pension for a couple of nights and then had to relocate to another location closer to Union Square and had to organise a taxi
I got stuck on the phone talking to a female dispatcher be cause she thought I was a kiwi,it took some convincing that I wasn't and that I was an aussie, once that was sorted out she wanted to keep chatting because she like both the Aussie and Kiwi accents.Fitted so far:-Toyota Alloy bar,Redarc BDCD1220 battery managment system and dual power outlet, tracklander full length rack and ladder,Milford cargo barrier,Kaon transmission guard, UVP& Lower Shock mount Guards,Dobinson/Bilstein suspension,Toyota Bonnet and headlight guards,39ltr engel and an opposite lock stubby holder (from the old '80' series),Polyair Airbags,Pradopoint sticker,Gonefishin' custom Sidesteps.
