Geez Pomp that's serious road rage right there!

With all the cashed up bogans after the mining boom it's sadly a common occurrence here in Perth it seems. Too many bogans with far too much money. Sadly, their ego has short-circuited their brain which isn't exactly in the same place as yours and mine. A "hat" for them is a pair of friggin speedo jocks. And you really need to understand that the lewd hand signals are as complex as their communication skills get. Some sort of primitive early-man attempts to communicate. I almost feel sorry for them. With a brain that is rapidly diminishing, they'll soon start having trouble at toilet time and the brain power to do things such as walking will be lost and be completely beyond them. Rest easy knowing that your own grand kids will be charismatic members of society while the bogan that flipped you off's grand kids will more resemble the scum you readily find floating in stinking bog pits.

Not good at all. Is there anyone you can go to for help on this? Fair trading etc? I know they say yes, you have to pay shipping for any issues but this is getting rediculous. Soon you could've had 2 for the price of 1 and fix it yourself with spare parts

I'm not sure what I should do now. Whether I should cut my losses and walk away or what. I did email them a very nasty email last night about it. I am furious! we needed that winch working before the long weekend and now its looking like I am going to have to go buy a new one. Arghhhhhh

And this is the email I just got back from them....

The winch was working very well before leaving our house.
You have sent the winch to us in a vacuum cleaner box. The winch wasn't in the original winch styrofoam packaging . This is not our fault if you prefer to treat your winch this way. You have organized the pick up by yourself didn't want us to arrange it by ourselves therefore you are responsible for the delivery. But no worries as we guess you werent smart enough to insured the package so you can claim by your courier.

Nice customer service dont you think? And how would it be the couriers fault that every single bolt on the winch was lose when I got it back???

On Ebay they go by the name of "4x4 Point" But I am pretty sure that is their real name aswell. Not that I would call them a real business anyway as they operate out of a house.

I will definetely be getting something better after these dramas. Not sure about selling it though. I'd rather bin it because its not worth anything really. But just gotta try get it working for this weekend because I know if we dont have it we're gonna need it. And I'm getting my snorkel fitted on thursday so I think thats enough money spent this week. As for those jerks.... I am going to take it to consumer affairs, its just not right!

Well BPC, I'd really be tempted to just walk away from this one. The Fragwits have wasted enough of your time. Keep the winch for spares or put it on your workbench as a "work in progress". Find a trusted dealer and get something decent. There is a lot to be said for buying local, especially when it comes to warranty time. God only knows, I had to learn that the hard way too  That said, tell the fools you are a member of several 4X4 forums and will not hesitate to let all members know of your poor experience with them. Give them a bad rap on Ebay too. If they really are amateurs, they won't give a damn. If they think they're worth anything, they might just listen. If they're "smart enough" that is..........

Yep I have decided to walk away from this one. I am going to go pick up an ironman winch on my lunc break today. I have heard alot of good things about Ironman Winches, so I probably should have spent the extra $500 to begin with in the first place. Oh well, we learn from our mistakes. So hooray! New Winch today and Snorkel tomorrow!

Yep! That's the stuff mate! Whack on the Ironman and get out there in the Blue yonder. Hopefully, over Easter I'll be amongst the fish off Jurien Bay over here. If I need a winch for those, I'll get worried...... 8)

I have had both good and bad on Ebay. I am more than aware that these 'too good to be true' prices and deals on such things as expensive 4wd equipment, is usually that... a rip off. The clowns have no idea or really don't care if they look after you or not. This is a he said, she said case; as far as Ebay goes and they will provide bugger all assistance in mediation of the dispute (been there, done that before). It is very pathetic that these sellers have treated BPC like this, bit it does happen alot.

This is very true, many of the items available on Ebay being cheap chinese crap, will be sold by people who simply have contacts in China, or India etc where they can source their junk at low prices, and bring them here for sale to us and operate from their house/garage as a covert retailer. Almost every seller of this kind does not sell from their house/garage as a true retailer, whereby you can go and "shop" and cash and carry your items. Why don't they do this?

Because then they would be truly retailing, and that would afford you the buyer, consumer protections regarding faulty goods, and would mean they have a warranty they MUST honour, which of course they really don't want to have to do, hence Ebay, as it offers you no consumer protections unless you buy from a seller operating or purporting to operate as a registered company/business.

Ebay are useless when it comes to assisting in disputes, they will almost always wash their hands of matters that are anything other than a rip off where you paid and didn't receive an item, and even then if it is he said/she said you are on your own.

L Platers trying to do hand brake - fish tails at 80 kph in suburban streets !!!

This young bloke decided to have a little play in his car .... while on L plates .... with his unlicensed instructor in the passenger seat and his little brother in the back.

Its a good thing I deliberately planted the reinforced lamp-post and brick planter / letterbox in the way ..... otherwise this puppy was headed for the other cars in the yard.

This happened about 9.30 pm .... and we were still running a mini triage unit in our front yard at midnight.
Still - no one was seriously hurt ... and the boys were back at 7.30 sunday morning with brooms etc ... to clean up their mess.

Pay attention to the door skin still attached to the lamp-post ...... and the shattering of the letterbox which is reinforced with steel bar.
