A follow up on yesterday. The tyres are ok. Had the four wheels stripped and tyres cleaned ops:, inspected and all good. And I now have a collection of nails. Nowhere near as hard on the pocket as I expected - whew! Looking at the insurance question the tyres already have 40,000 km on them and while only half the tread is gone it is moot whether the insurer would consider a claim but if yes it is likely they would only look at the Cooper 'life' of 65,000 km. So about 1/3 refund which is about the same as most excesses. So insurance wouldn't have been worthwhile. At least I found out I can get 275/65 17 BFG A/Ts for $340 ea fitted. Anyway the choice of tyre can be made later this year when some PPers have plenty of ks on the Scorpians, BFGs and G012s. :P

I'll tell you one thing that really ticks me off - Idiots who tow a trailer that's wider than their ute but don't actually know its wider then their ute!!!!!! I'm sitting at a tee intersection waiting to turn right and this muppet sqeeeeeeeezes alongside me to turn left. He was towing a boat on a trailer that was a fair bit wider than his hilux. Needless to say, when he took off, his trailer collected me and ripped out my rear reflector.

Luckily I'm insured with Toyota so even though the damage is minor I still get the bumper and reflector replaced with brand new parts.

Low life scumbags who break in to peoples homes and ransack their personnel belongings. :x :x

My parents home was broken into tonight whilst they were in the house, they were in the lounge/living room when some scumbag broke in through the ensuite window and ransacked their bedroom. My mother must have scared them when she went to use the ensuite as they had only opened up a few of the draws of the chest of draws but they had enough time to gab her handbag and a few other bits of jewelry.

My folks called the police and have cancelled the cards etc, but the bag had a set of keys for their car in it, so now they have to get that all changed on the car. Police said they would come by in a day or two and take some finger prints. They told then not to clean up or touch anything, yeah right so they have to live with the mess for a day or two before the police can get around to it and then it will be " there is not much we can do about it".

Just peeves me that these cretins can get away with this all te time, no wonder they keep doing it. :x :x

Far out Mav that's freaking rotten. It's funny. A co-workers family house also got broken into recently, also through an ensuite window. The police told them that it was now becoming much more common for thieves to break in through toilet or ensuite windows. Not really sure why the scum like such windows but there must be a reason. Less glass to deal with perhaps? Some have that strip of flywire across the top as well which might make it easier to break the window.

Hope the police find the garbage that did it and find a nice dark cell for them.

Well now I am really peeved, I just found out that the low lifes stole my fathers war medals as well. That is just low! My father has served in two wars, WW2 and Vietnam. He took great care with his medals, although he never wore them or showed them off, he respected them and what they stood for in his eyes. He has not spoken all that much about what he did in either wars but from the little he has told me he earnt them. Now some scumbag has stolen them and probably tossed them somewhere once they realised they were not coins. :x :x :x

EDIT: These scumbags had some nerve, the police just inspected the house and found that they had moved through the house with my parents sitting there in the lounge room. They had gone into each bedroom, removed all the flyscreens from the bedroom windows and had begun moving gear out into the backyard to take once they had finished. They had gone into the garage and walked through the loung family room to get to the bedrooms. My mother had nodded off in front of the telly and my Dad had his back to them playing cards on the computer. I think they are probably lucky that they did not see them and confront them as who knows what may have happened.

Geez Mav That's really rotten for your parents.

I have the greatest respect for those people who went to war, risking their lives, so I could have a good easy life. Those scum have no idea what medals like that mean to those that earned them. More than just collectors items. Suppose they'll be sold on the black market...... Stuff like this really makes me mad.

It's chilling to realize just how brazen thieves are getting these days. I keep hearing stories of people ducking through their front doors and into the dunny. When they come out mere minutes later their TV and stereo system is missing. Someone has obviously been watching them. People waking up in the night, knives at their throats, some freak demanding money and the keys to their car. The Australia of today. My girlfriend and I were just thinking the other day how we'd like to put a baseball bat under our bed. Not kidding at all. So many stories on the news now about brazen house attacks and how house occupants get roughed up while letting it all happen. If I'm going to be put in hospital by brazen thieves like that then they can damn well get a dose of hurt out of it as well.

It just shows how low and cowardly the fragwits are when they target older retirees or the elderly. Won't pick on someone their own size. They want to beat up elderly grandma's and gentlemen from yesteryear. Easy targets. I bet guys like this would scream like little girls if they went through the wars like your father did.
