Was that a tongue in cheek comment Fishfinder?

We were out east near Southern Cross.
Sorry yer it was tongue in cheek -- It is rare you see a Disco driver out of the Perth CBD and they would not know how to adjust to the different conditions . Wrong on my behalf some people that read this post may not know where Southern Cross is .

Kids!!! - and the worry that they cause you as a parent.

Spent most of this week in Hospital with our son who had a severe reaction to something on Monday. He came home from hospital and his face began to swell up all over and a weird rash started spreading all over his body. After an urgent shot of adrenalin at the local surgery, we rushed him to the hospital emergency department for further treatment. After a few needles and about fours hours of observation, he was sent home still feeling unwell and experiencing a strange rash on his body. At this time, the doctors believed whatever he reacted to was over. However, over the next 48 hours, we had to return to the hospital twice again with severe symptoms (rash, feeling sick and not eating) before he was admitted on Wednesday arvo after experiencing difficulty in breathing. On this occasion, he told us he was finding it very difficulty to breath, so we again rushed him to the Emergency Department. By this time, the rash was all over his body and looking very nasty. He was immediately taken into the resuscitation room before having two intravenous lines put into him and being administered oxygen and other drugs. Its a bit scary when you go straight into this room and they literally hit the alarm and all the doctors come running and start to work on your child. You feel helpless watching knowing there is nothing you can do but hope that they can work their magic to help heal your sick child.

After a few hours of intense monitoring and some strong drugs, he was admitted to the Intensive Care Ward for the next 24 hours before later being admitted to the children's ward for just over a day. He was finally discharged Saturday morning and is now at home. In fact, it's hard to believe that anything had been wrong with him looking at him now.

We're still waiting test results to work out what the hell happened to him - possibly viral. Whatever it was, it was nasty. Fortunately, he seems fine now but I reckon it has taken a few years of our lives - and there's no cure for that.

Still - I wouldn't give up our kids for anything and would happily lay down my life for theirs any day.

Good to hear all seems well, hope the results offer some explaination and you sort things out. Nothing worse than...."sorry the results did not identify anything".

              Toyota's reversing sensors!

Been having a running battle over the performance of these things with the dealership and finally agreed to leaving the hitch out of the towbar so that the sensors didn't get confused (hah!). False readings are ok at least you stop and look around but... wife was turning around at one of the kid's friends farm and found that there was a sole remaining corner post from an old fence that used to run beside the driveway. Sure enough the sensors didn't go off until the car had come to a stop against the post! The car hit the post very close to one of the sensors and it was a big post! Damage to the bumper but also the impact on the spare has damaged the door, haven't looked at the wheel yet; the door still opens and hopefully still seals ok for the moment. The only good thing is that at least it was a post and not a child or animal.

Will now be investing in some form of reversing camera. Bloody useless sensors. should have saved the $500 up front.

I have to admit that the reversing camera is a much better idea than the sensors, I use mine most mornings as the park space I currently have been allocated to is dificult but the camera makes it simpler.

Be aware though that a simple camera coming in from one side can only show you so much and you can still miss things if they are at the extremes. Makes it simpler though to hitch up the tow bar, I can see exactly where it is.

Really ticked off at the moment as have just had surgery on right ankle meaning I can not drive my Prado for 6 weeks  . The one good thing to come out of this is that it has given me time to read all the posts on here and see what my next plan of attack will be to do to the Prado once I am back on two legs and able to do things.

Agree with you. Paid extra for extra sensors when I got the car. They just sounded continously when in Reverse. Complained at 10,000km swervice and was told that one was installed up-side-down and another was behind towbar power point. Seem a little bettter now but still no where as good as those on last car (a fairlane)
