  • Re: Things that tick you off!

I am just so gob-smacked that anyone would do this! Expletives were running rampant when I discovered the damage I can tell you!! Must be at least $1500 or so. I do hope if it at least knocked out someones headlights or taillights.

    Any hope of CCTV footage.
Spent over 2 hours this morning going through some CCTV at Rising Sun shopping centre but Pearlie was out of range of the cameras. I usually park well out of anyone's way. Even sought help from the pub next door but no good there either. Don't think I'll ever find out. There's no obvious tell tale paint either.

My concern at the moment is that the airbag light which was flashing intermittently is still flashing but for longer now. Just hope it doesn't deploy the airbags!! I tried to ring Toyota but Friday night is not a good time. No-one was there Saturday morning either so have to wait till Monday to find out anything and also get the ball rolling for repairs. It all looks like plastic parts. Being Crystal Pearl color, I hope that they match all the colors well. Have read about some peoples bad experiences in this forum.

This is my first ever accident, ever!! Never dealt with panel beaters or insurance companies before. Next few weeks should prove interesting..
You're here for a good time, not a long time... Love my Prado...

Hey pearlie, good luck with the repairs mate. We had similar damage a while back and the repair shop did a top job of matching the paint. Couldnt pick the area they had to spray, and its been about 18 months.

Butane, if a mates holding out on a deal, he's not a mate in my books  Has he got the boat off you?

Pearlie, they get the panel in unpainted and paint it to match the colour on arrival. I think mine cost about $1500 but I had to wait a few weeks before I could get the panel shop to book it in. Only took 2-3days to do, which included cutting out the bit for the tow bar.

In this day and age even with a scratch on plastic it is easier to replace the panel rather than smooth the old one out.

By the way, it wasn't me, I have been in Cairns for the week and visiting Cooktown now. So that rules one more out.

What is it with the young dip sh!ts of today thinking that every road is Bathurst? We live on a bend and I spent yesterday in the garden, every green P plater took the corner like it was their last lap at Bathurst. FFS you need a license to fish and a license to operate a boat I wish you needed a license to breed.

I knew it wouldn't have been a PPer, we're too civilized for that. Also, you would have noted the BIG Pradopoint.com sticker on my back windscreen and perhaps have mentioned it in the Spotted a PP sticker thread...

Anyway, thanks for the hints everyone. All the action starts tomorrow. Can't and won't drive her until the flashing airbag light is dealt with. Till then its on me bike

Back to the shopping centre car park .. Last weekend I was sitting in the car with the kids at a shopping centre whilst the wife was running in to grab a couple of things , had the radio on and heard a noise of a rattling diesel looked out the window and this old boiler in a Pajero pulling in the bay next to me with the bumper of the car only inches away from passenger door , I stuck my head out the window signaling her to back up as if she keeps on going she will hit my car . The stupid b###ch kept going scraped along the side of my car then noticed she hit the car so reversed up straigtened up and tried to park again . She finally parked the car hopped out and walked off . I jumped out and asked what does she think she is doing she said its only a small mark on my car its not worth worrying about .THEN she spat on her finger and tried to rub the mark off I told her she will have to fill her mouth up with the exact coulor matched paint if that is what she thinks a spray gun is . THEN she said if going through insurance there are no witnesses so I will have to prove it was her then I got a bit angree told her seeing there are no witnesses she will have to prove it was my steel cap that put the big dent in her door .. end result dented door on Pajero ... 8 inch by 4 inch scrape on Prado .... Ii is not only the younger generation but some older generation people with the I DONT GIVE A ....... attitude now days

You surely must have watched at least one episode of CSI.

Get a sample of her paint left behind on your door and vice versa. Get some photos. Then let her know that any reasonable lab can match the samples. Call their bluff.

Had to have a giggle today when the Toyota man told me that the Prado bumper bar that I need is primarily made out of the same material as wheelie bins   At least one good thing came from our conversation. There are plenty of the bumper bars and rear flares in stock, so the panel beater won't have to wait too long for parts.

Regarding the flashing airbag sensor, after the bar is replaced, it has to be towed to Toyota for testing and resetting, all the time mindful that they could still deploy, even at the panel beaters!! At least all that will be covered by insurance once it gets towed away from here. Could be a costly endeavour if no insurance for something like that. Wonder how much it would cost to replace airbags, given that Pearlie has 7 of them?

It does go to show that it doesn't take much to make a Prado undrivable.  I still reckon the b^%$#&d that ran into me didn't even get a scratch.

Not so much ticked off but just a bit saddened at the moment. I am sitting in a hotel room watching over my kids who are sleeping trying to figure out how to tell my daughter that her Nanny has just passed away. We just received the call from the hospital that my wife should go in as her mum is in her last hour or two. Although it is a sad time, my MIL will finally be at peace and no longer suffering.
