HI ALL.After reading the good Samaritans post made me think of the time I came across a guy in a pajero brand new stuck, in a tidal creek, doors open water flowing through.Pulled up just in time cop the domestic hubby wife going at it had to split them up as her punches flew she storms off.Anyway after pulling him out and getting him going I discover he,s put the strap under my bull bar instead of through(not Prado) it bent under panel and sheered bolts on bull bar mounts.Get,s back to camp wife say's you've got the start of a black eye etc what happened, had a fight with a women Whaaaaaaaaat.Has anyboby else wished they hadn't stopped :?: EDIT: Just a couple of points I fogot to say in the post it was at night tide was coming in fast I was not going to let him drive my 4x4 into creek to hook up so I drove in he did the hook up under water. There wasn,t time to do a doco on it but I TAKE FULL BLAME for damage for the reasons you have pointed out.It hasn,t put me of helping anybody again I was just reflecting on a incendent that I was involved in and maybe someone else had had similar.TINKERA.

I not only stop for off-roaders on the trail, but cars on the road. You don't know their circomstances, but everyone in even the simplest circomstances appreciate assistance of any kind even if it's just to check on them.

One time I came across a guy bogged in a mud/water hole to the top of the wheel wells. He hooked himself up using a welded on shackle mount as opposed to the built in ARB mount (I know now to never snatch in reverse). He used the wrong mount and when I pulled it twisted my bumper and it sat that way looking bad for a year.

I went to a club tech meet and rebuilt my front winch. We loosened the Bull Bar to remove it and lifted the vehicle on the twisted side with a Hi-Lift. With the weight on the twisted side we tightened the bolts so it appeared straight. It looks good now, but when the bolts loosen on that side I need to gather friends and do it again.

I learned an important lesson. ALWAYS CHECK ATTACHMENTS WHEN RECOVERING OTHERS!!

I get ticked off at the amount of photoshopping done in 4WD magazines. For example. Latest copy of "Camping with your 4WD', on the cover is a Hilux with aftermarket rims and wide tyres yet when you get to the story the say picture is there and the Hilux has normal rims and tyres and signage on the door.
For crying out loud it is not some fashion magazine where the slightest blemish has to be covered. This is a magazine for real people who enjoy the real outside world. :x

Tradies who don't turn up ....
our hot water service blew up last week so I rang about 5 hot water firms and plumbers to come and give quotes, as I was considering solar options.
I waited around home for two days because they could not commit to anything closer than "morning" or "afternoon" appointments.
Only one turned up as scheduled .... one other turned up in the afternoon instead of the morning .... 3 others didn't show at all, or even ring.
Needless to say the only firm that showed up on time got the job ..... very good work too.

Now i know there's probably plenty of tradies on this forum who will explain why this is .... and i undertand that schedules can change ...I also know that only a percentage of quotes come to fruition...but it's just common courtesy to call someone who's waiting around for you, if you can't make it .... my time is precious too.
                          Cheers, Wayne

Based upon our experiences, the name Telstra is a good enough reason. No explanation is needed. It's simple they are just the consumate shite all-rounder
