HI ozwapet2.Where both around the same vintage,back in the day when you,ve hung up the phone you would have the guy on your door step when he said or there would be a phone call telling you why not.I do alot of service work on sheet metal machinery and rollformers ,we get alot of work because they know we will show up and do our best to get them going.As you found the better ones give good service. TINKERA.

Ditto for me, I hate these service calls where you only get a morning or afternoon slot and then when they come (if they come) they look at the model number (which their service desk already verified) and state that they don't have the part and will have to come back in a couple of days when they may have it.

Yesterday evening we were having a bbq dinner at Bonnie Vale beach picnic area and whilst sitting on the grassy verge above the beach line, 4 men of shall we say"mediteranean appearance" and sharp hairdo's in an older 2.8D hilux drove straight onto the beach, heading for the point to do a bit of fishing.
Well, they hadn't gone more than 10 metres before they were bogged and I could see that they did not have the front hubs engaged and still had road pressure in the tyres. I watched for about 10 minutes as they dug themselves deeper and tried putting rocks and anything else under the rear tyres, all the while my wife was saying"go and help them". Finally I walked over and told them to firstly lock the hubs and let the tyres down but they all looked at me as if I had told them Allah was gay. When I bent down to lock the first hub, the light then came on :idea: and one rushed around to lock the other one which was so tight it needed pliers to turn. Then, with a bit of pushing it was freed but they still didn't let the tyres down and off they went to drop off the fishing gear and 3 of the guys before 1 returned up the beach to park outside the picnic area so they didn't get locked in when the gates are close at 8.30pm.
Probably 1 minute after the driver disappeared, my neighbour who is a NPWS ranger pulled up for a chat and my wife told him about what had just happened.
He said that he had winched a similar mob out off the beach a few months ago and gave them a warning about driving on it. They responded by calling him racist and everything else, so he reckons next time they can just stay there until they float.
As for me. I can't remember any words of thanks(or any words of english either) so I reckon next time I may just play dumb :twisted:

some poeple just cannot appericate the help you provide...but remember what goes around comes around. They may not have appericated it at the time and maybe just maybe they will pay it forward for the future. :shock: Yes I agress with ya'll sometimes to let the bugger rot but if you do not try you will never know.

Trying to change the diff oil and finding that whoever did it before has WAY over tightened the
drain and fill plugs. Manage to get the rear done eventually. Try to do the front and the first thing
I see is that the numnut who did the job before has fubared the drain plug (obviously rounded off somewhat and
something has been packed into it to try to fix it.) Gave up trying to get it loose.

Had the same problem on my 90 series.

Got the mig welder out and welded some decent high tensile nuts to the drain plugs.

Problem solved.

if i have 1 more idiot check their luggage in and then not turn up to the flight then i have to sit on the plane for an hour till they get the bags off

HI ALL. Yeah people with no recovery gear.Just returned from 4 days Double Island point where me and my mate came across a young guy and girlfriend stuck in large pond just behind high water, 4x4 looking to the sky tide coming in just on dusk.Almost threw himself in front of mates forby wanting a snatch out no recovery gear he says,our strap was just long enough to get us into trouble too.Anyway we got him out just,tells us later him and her are heading to Fraser Is. for a week the next day.I wished him luck with that and buy a strap ,looked blankly at me and left. I guess German backpackers know best.CHEERS TINKERA.

What ticks me off is sitting here writing a witty reply to Chesters post about my experiences on the subject. OK it was a paragraph or two but it was a beauty. And then when I hit the preview button to check on my spelling, I get the IE page of death. Hit back on the browser and presto everything I wrote is gone.

Can't be bothered rewriting it, so you all have to miss out now. No big loss I suppose.

Flight cancelations 2 hrs before departure. Especially when I fly out to the mine at 6.00 am tomorrow in WA but i will still be in Darwin until 5.15pm tomorrow ahwell what's a day's wage Bye Bye Virgin hello Qantas they are the only one's that fly to Perth.

when a certain someone drives 15km to work on tar with 4 roundabouts and some nice 90deg corners and i get a phone call saying the 2 blue switches are on and the car makes funny noices when i turn a corner, and yes we all know what those switches do, :evil: cheers samo
