Looks like he's dropped the Kias and is now driving around in a Nissan Patrol  . I can't deside which one is worst.

If you watched the last show they gave nissan (note lack of capital letter[doesnt deserve one])a fair Plugging, so did that nissan Mechanic saying most of the vehicles round those parts are nissans ...... this made me sad it can't be true......
other than the blatant adverts i didnt mind watching this as a travel show but I think this was mentioned before...

Re: New TV show - Pat Callinan's 4x4 Adventures

I caught a couple of these by accident. The Tasmanian one and the Canning Stock Route were quite good I thought.

Good tips and ideas ( some new to me ) .....the chef does some some good meals.( bit higher class than Ron's wife )

But Pat's delivery annoys me after a while - the slow deliberate soft voice with strong emphasis on certain words - he seems to have been coached by the interior decorator from Better Homes and Gardens ! It's like he's talking to his kids.
He needs to get a bit of a rough and natural "edge" to his presentation : look at someone like the Bush Tucker Man or Ben Dark, Pat.
          Cheers, Wayne

Good to see a comp with a decent prize pool... prizes all the way through to the 104th placing

Re: New TV show - Pat Callinan's 4x4 Adventures

I received the DVD set for Xmas... I really enjoyed the whole series. Good mix between touring, technique and scenery. I would have prefered a more capable vehicle so they didn't have to take the easy track quite so often (from a learning point of view).
I prefer his presentation style over any of the other 4x4 shows on TV currently. It's refreshing to have a more 'polished' delivery for once
I can't stand the lady from Better Homes and Gardens either... but I think that's more because of her stupid/gaudy ideas.
His delivery reminds me more of a bush poetry reading than anything else.
              Cheers, Leon

Re: New TV show - Pat Callinan's 4x4 Adventures

Was flicking through the online TV guide and saw that Season 3 of Pat's 4x4 Adventures is about to start. October 22nd from 5:30 to 6:30 on Channel 1, at least here in Adelaide. Season 1 was ok but Season 2 was better so I hope season 3 is good. The biggest problem I find with this show as well as the Roothy DVDs and Ron Moon DVDs (especially the one called Extreme Desert) is all of the sponser advertising then tends to dumd down the entertainment factor. Oh well, a neccessary evil I guess.

Bugger, it's not the 3rd series yet. Just re-runs of series 2. Should be about seven episodes then and following that I would assume series 3?

Re: New TV show - Pat Callinan's 4x4 Adventures

I watched it last night, by fluke surfing through the electronic tv guide, wasn`t bad at all. A bit too much advertising and product placement, but enough scenery, technical stuff to make it worthwhile. Camera work was excellent. Presenter is good, definitely one to watch out for. I guess its as good as these shows get, I like the fact that they showed the history side of things and made an effort to involve the locals etc.
stepped up the a 200 LC for towing,
but had a 2012 and 2010 150 Prado GXL auto diesel in Graphite with Bridgestone D697 A/T. Dobinson C59-300/325 and Bilsteins. Accessories : two baby seats. Sidewinder`s Dual Battery isolator and rear power outlet kit. Pirana Battery tray, Hayman Reese towbar with Toyota wiring kit and Brains`s guard.

I recorded it and then watched it later the same night (last night). I didn't mind it but expected a bit more mud. I was in Birdsville CP the same time and actually spoke to Pat who told me a bit about this season of 4x4 adventures.

This episode is being repeated tomorrow (02/12/10) 11.00am on ONEHD in Sydney.

I managed to catch the last 15mins of the show the other day on ONE HD. It reminds me of the legendary shows by the late Malcolm Douglas, but with a 4wd focus. Lots of excellent trip reports and 4x4ing tips. It's a shame he's driving a KIA - they're most definitely sponsors. I found it funny when he had to "talk up" the KIA (again probably part of the sponsorship deal), and you could see the hesitation as he spoke Haha  I'm not too sure about that dodgy banana custard dish either, fair effort, but nowhere as awesome as Malcolm Douglas' bush cooking segments.

I suppose so, in that episode he went to Birdsville and checked out this neat pie shop.
